Quilt With Us

I thought I would start sharing the five quilts finished this year that I intend to enter in my guild's biennial (every two years) Quilt Show.  This one, which I call "African Jewels", will be my last "dramatic black quilts" since I find sewing black-on-black to be beyond my vision capabilities.  Even very strong light and short sewing sessions frustrate me these days.  Africa Jewels was quilted by my local long-arm quilter, Vicky.

It's very beautiful. When I hand quilt on black--I use a contrasting color thread like red or yellow so I don't kill my eyes.

Very striking!  Black and whites are very hard to keep clean!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!! I don't like working with black for the very same reason that you mentioned. It's to hard to see to correct your mistakes.

Pam, yes she did!  I asked for "something geometric" and she came up with the perfect design.

Beautiful!  I have the same issue with black on black.  The quilting on this is really perfect for the design.

Very nice!  That black would be hard to see!  I think the quilt is very pretty.
