Well yet another quilt under my belt. I have been taking a class on hand quilting, which I know will take a lot longer, but look forward to saying I can hand quilt too. Then will put my quilting frame to work. May take a couple years to finish a regular or queen quilt but will try anything once. Love feeling the peace that comes with a quiet room while quilting or sometimes I just listen to my Yanni.

Comment by Prairie Quilter/NE on March 3, 2013 at 4:33pm I hope the hand quilting becomes something you enjoy. I've just finished up a bed-size quilt and have others waiting in the wings to be hand quilted. I like the looks, the feel, and the drape of a hand-quilted piece. Batting will make all the difference in the world, too. Hopefully in your class you have the opportunity to experiment on different kinds. Personally, wool is my favorite to hand quilt through, but every hand quilter has their own favorite.
Comment by Barbara Graham on March 2, 2013 at 4:25pm I love it when machine quilters (I am trying to learn) comment to me "do you know how long that will take?". Yes. But I enjoy the the process. And you nailed it, the peace. For some reason it is very soothing. After a rugged day, there is nothing better.

There are just times when a quilt calls for hand quilting so congratulations on learning that skill. I love to hand quilt too. You are welcome to join the hand quilting group if you would like as well.
