Quilt With Us

Quilting put into hiatus for now, too hot in my sewing room.  I do have an air conditioner in there and can turn it on, but...if I decide to cut fabrics, I have to turn on the bright light so I can see what I'm cutting, then I have to turn on the 1700-watt iron so I can press the pieces, then turn on the Janome Horizon to start sewing, along with my Nook to listen to music.  I then have everything running and voila! a short-circuit on the entire half of the house.

I suppose I could join the cats nap during the daytime and then go sewing in the middle of the night.

Stay cool everyone.

Our summer has been damper than normal. Usually by now the "fire danger" signs are in the red zone. However, we just got back from Seattle where the temperatures have been way higher than normal. Like us, very little is air-conditioned. Luckily they had a short break in the heat this past weekend.

I sympathize with you.  I live in Spring,TX just a few miles north of Houston.  It is HOT here.  I just bite the bullet and enjoy my room.  So, take one day and turn on the bright light to do your cutting.  Take another day and turn on the 1700-watt iron and press the pieces. And so on - and so on.

Happy Quilting

Here in Portugal it's summertime, I'm on vacations at the beach and at 9 am we have 30°C (78° F) and at 1 pm around 40°(104° F).
I ll try to put some photos from my hand appliqué job. The sewing machine stayed at home. She also deserves some time off

We had a couple of too hot days, and for whatever reason, I decided one of those days would be a great day to put the borders on a quilt...I never said I was the brightest crayon in the box! :)

I can't complain about the heat.  We've had only a few days that were hot and humid (more coming, I am sure).  On those days it would great to fill up our kiddy pool, and sit out on the deck with some hand stitching.  Sadly, I don't bother though; as the heat and humidity rise, my energy level drops!

We haven't had any real hot weather here all Summer and I like it.  The humid hot weather is hard to do anything in.  I have a ceiling fan in my sewing room.  I had to use it a couple of times this week as I was doing an order with heavy vinyl fabric.
