Quilt With Us

I have been trying to keep up with your blogs (which I enjoy very much), but some days, well...........  My DD has decided to keep us (for now) as her parents, so after several months of not seeing DD and 18 mo. old DGD, we are again Mom & Dad, and Gramma & Grandpa.  I've changed my profile pic to one of Miss Piper McGee wearing my DH's family heirloom glasses, upside down.  So strange after not being able to "grandparent" Piper, we are now having her for three out of four weekends.  Great but at first it made me think of running the Boston Marathon without any training!  She is breaking us in tho, and we love it!  My DD has some serious mental health diagnoses, leading to a life full of challenges, changes and drama.  I have finally taken steps to find myself a therapist, so perhaps I will make it after all!

My poor Sewing Room has a tick layer of undisturbed (but very disturbing) dust on it and I miss it very much.  My DH and I seem to be eternally optimistic tho, and keep planning to catch up "when things calm down".  I do have a project I'm working on by hand, a smocked bishop dress for miss McGee for Easter.  Also trying to make a coat and bonnet for her.  Piper does not hold still long enough for me to accurately measure her, so I'm taking a risk, size wise.  Funny, but I just don't remember my kids being so , hmmm, shall we say, energetic as Piper?

Here's to Quiet Times, and Peace, and Quilting, but most of all to Quit With Us Friends.  Cheers!

Oh Terry,  I am so glasd that your DD is realizing how much she needs you and the Grampa.  All the little ones need Grammies and Grampas to teach them what Moms and/or Dads never let sink into their heads.  I am so pleased, seeing that little dress made me do a double take....My Mom used to smocking on dresses for all the little girls in the family. A pleasant memory it brought to see you doing that.

I'm sorry you've had so many trials, but it sounds like things are back to a good place now.  That dress is absolutely beautiful.  I always wanted to learn how to smock. I hope you will post a picture of Piper when she is wearing the dress that is a work of art. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Those ups and downs have to be wearing on you, but I'm so excited to see you treasuring the moments you have with your granddaughter.  What a beautiful little girl and adorable dress.  The smocking is wonderful.  We look forward to pictures of it on Little Miss Piper.

What a beautiful little dress - please post pictures when it's done.  So glad things are better for your family - how hard that had to be.  I hope things continue to be good and that your daughter's condition improves.  Enjoy that little one!

I'm glad your DD and DGD are back in your life now. It is hard taking care of little ones after not having them in your life for awhile but I hope by you having Piper your daughter can get the help she needs mentally. I love the dress your making. I have always wanted to do smocking but have never been able to find anyone to teach me.

Terry - I'm so glad your DD and DGD are back in your life. I know you will cherish this time.  What a gorgeous dress you are making Piper. I'm not doing an Easter dress this year for Bailey, but have a cute little summer dress waiting for me to make for her.

Terry, that is a beautiful dress you are making for Piper.  You are a very talented seamstress!  The best to you and your family.

Terry, Glad to hear things are better. Having a toddler around is a bit like having a tornado go through!  I have my 2 1/2 yr old GD a lot, and I always seem to be a bit frazzled when the day is over, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!  The dress is going to be adorable! I can't wait to see it finished!  Enjoy the peace and quiet whenever you can! lol!

Terry, it is great news that your dd finally realized how much she needs you & your dh in her & Piper's lives.  Hope it continues and she continues to accept the help she needs for her sake as well as Piper's.  That sure is a cute dress you are making.
