Just finished this quilt top today thinking for me it's too scrappy, it is 60" square and thinking I might add a border like a tone on tone no pattern to frame it in and make it abit bigger, any suggestions?
Linda, it's gorgeous! I agree with the comments below on just binding in a dark fabric. Did I understand correctly? You started it Oct 16th of THIS YEAR????? That's less than 2 weeks ago! Um, I have a large pile of UFO's that could use your energy!

Thank you everyone for the compliments, this is a Lori Smith design, she has a web site called www.frommyhearttoyourhands.com----I used fabric from my stash, I started it Oct. 16th, I usually sew in the mornings so it didn't really take that long. I see by the suggestions that I should leave it as is so thats what I'm going to do, I have some real dark tone on tone brown for the binding, so today I'll see what I got in my stash for the backing then get it loaded on the frame. I'm on a no buy for this month, so it might end up being a pieced backing.
Wow! I would just bind it. Because all your add on borders are pieced, I would not add just a plain strip fabric border. I think it would detract from what you've done.
I think it looks fine just as it is! I would use a dark brown for the binding, but that's just a suggestion!

It's a great quilt!! totally successful in all details!! Did you design this, or is there a pattern available? Congratulations!!--With lots of quilting and a dark binding, you will have a fabulous heirloom!!
Too scrappy - is there such a thing? I love it! I know what you mean though, about wanting a "calmer" border - some place to rest the eyes. Let us know what you decide.
