Y'all never guess what I have done. I actually signed up for a retreat!!! It's an hour away from me, but that is ok. I can't wait to go. I have been reading a book series and I so want to have what they have and it sounds like this retreat is going to be just like that!!  I know two ladies that sew / quilt I wonder if they would like to go?

As anyone been on a retreat? Did you have fun?

Every Oct our group goes to quilt camp all together; we all love it.  Best yet, it's only 15 minutes from my house but I don't go home at night; part of the fun is staying there.  The woman and her daughter who plan this event do all the cooking of delicious meals.  It is held at a small town motel; we rent the rooms and quilt in the lower level which overlooks the lake.  A quilt shop is a block up the street and 2 others within 30 minute drive; we hit them all.  We have a blast quilting, talking, laughing, eating, and eating.  You will love it!

Vicki , have you been to my house. LOL.. husband wants meals, laundry done, son wants money so he can take his girlfriend out or hang with friends, dogs want in and out of the house to go potty. Cat wants to always to be in my lap. LOL..  That must be really cool to work for a quilt shop, my whole paycheck will be going right back to them. LOL.

I absolutely love retreats....unlimited sewing time--no husbands, kids or pets wanting your attention.  I go on one every January over a long weekend.  We sew, eat, chat and generally have a blast.  The place we go for the retreat is above the quilt shop.  The owner owns both and I work at the shop once a month.  We have a ton of fun and actually get alot done.  There are 5 of us that go and we work on our own projects.  Have a blast!  Vicki/NY

You can't but love retreats.  I have been going to one in my area for the past couple of years, twice a year, and have met some of the most wonderful people, all willing to share their craft, be it quilting, scrapbooking, making note cards, garlands, jewelry, etc.  You will develop some wonderful friendships and although you may only see them at retreats, you pick up where you left off at the prior retreat!  They are so much fun!  I hope you enjoys yours as much as I have enjoyed mine!  Good luck!

I love retreats!  I have been to 5 in the last three years and enjoyed every one of them.  Some I worked on my own stuff and a couple have been mystery quilts that we all worked on together.  Such fun meeting new folks or getting together with friends who share the passion!  Enjoy yours!

The Elm Creek Quilters series is fun to read!  I have been to a few quilt retreats, but they were nothing like in those books, but tons of fun, just the same.

Regarding the tatts, when three of my friend and I went to the outdoor quilt show Sisters, Oregon, a few years ago, one of the quilt shops was handing out the temporary, wash off, tattoos.  Three of us demurely put them on our ankles; one on her left boob.  She said she wanted to be sure her husband saw it, and never looked at her ankle!  This was a proper Mormon lady too; we almost died laughing!

Her books are excellent. I just thought I'd ask because part of my third book takes place at a quilt retreat and I was curious to see if it was the story you were referring to.

I love retreats! I have been to several put on by the quilt shop I shop at. It is a great week-end with lots of fun, food, chatter, and lots of sewing. We have a "quilt fairy" that leaves us little gifts on our sewing machines while we are at meals. One of the biggest highlights is "strip poker" (not what you think)! as we've had men participating in a couple of the retreats. You would be surprised how beautiful the men's quilts are. Have a great time....I'm green with envy!
