This past weekend nine friends spent three days crafting at the Mechanisburg Crafters Retreat Center. This retreat center is located in Mechanicsburg, PA, just outside of Harrisburg. What a nice little town. Very quaint. We were a group of four quilters, four scrapbookers, and one rug hooker. It was such a great time. Everyone was so productive. The workroom was awesome. It had the best lighting - which is so important when crafting.
The project I chose to concentrate on this past weekend was a quilt top I made several years ago and it has been sitting on the shelf in my closet. I decided it was time to finish it once and for all. I designed this quilt. I love vintage pieces. It started out with the center medallion. I bought the linen piece at an antique show and thought it would look great on a quilt. This particular piece would have lined a basket of rolls and the petals would be folded over the rolls. The fabrics I used are from Connecting Threads.
I spent the retreat machine quilting this quilt. I plan to give this quilt to my niece who will be graduating fron college in May. I did not quite finish, but put a big dent in getting this project done.
