In my last post, I asked for opinions about Accuquilt, and appreciated all your input. I went ahead and bought the Accuquilt Go! on eBay. (You can really save money on eBay, if you don't mind waiting a few days for the delivery.) Anyway, I'm thrilled with my new toy.
I cut 2-1/2 quilts in 3 hours with my new Accuquilt. The first quilt I cut was from a Walmart fabric bundle -- I didn't want to ruin more expensive fabric learning how to use the machine. The fabric itself was a bit of a problem, since it tended to leave a lot of threads stuck in the die blades. But the next two quilts I cut were from higher quality fabric, which resulted in very smooth and accurate cuts. And talk about fast! I cut a hexagon/equilateral triangle quilt with almost 500 pieces in just over an hour with complete accuracy. I would never have attempted a hexagon quilt before. There was less fabric waste than I expected, and what waste there was, was an excellent tradeoff for the accuracy and speed.
I also cut 2 1/2" binding strips for three quilts in about half an hour, including ironing & folding the fabric. The actual cuts probably took 5 minutes total. Wonder tool! Dies are spendy, but will pay off ultimately.
I just reread this -- no, I'm NOT a sales rep for Accuquilt. ;-)
