Quilt With Us

I was asked to join this band to play for a centennial celebration on July 4th. SInce I had nothing else planned for July 4th (I used to have to stay home because I had a dog terrified of fireworks and the big firework displays are visible from my house!) so I thought this would be fun. And then I find out today that we're getting paid to play. YAY! If they only knew how much we band players do without getting paid....LOL.

Mom had a good visit, and got to hear the CBC Concert Band play at a retirement center - good patriotic music: marches, Cole Porter, and such from the 30's-50's. Took her to my applique groups's lunch & sewing on Wednesday. She told them it was like visiting a pet store at my house....LOL. And of all the animals, I made her sleep in the same room with the rat. (Scarface is one rat with a huge personality but I didn't know that she didn't like him until then...oops) Guess I'll have to move some animals around before next time she stays here.

Hope everyone is staying cool today - happy weekend! :-D

My husband plays tuba in our town's city band. Ever since my kids were babies, they have been going to the summer concerts. Now they both play instruments, and with luck, when they get older, they too will play in the city band! (At least that's what their father is hoping for!) It's a wonderful that you can share your gift with others! It's kind of like quilting in that way!

I play French horn. I had to quit my quilt guild because we practice on the same night, but as a fellow player says - I can quilt by myself, but I can't play in a band by myself. So I chose the band over the quilt guild. Besides, the guild was becoming pretty catty. I love coming to this website for my quilting buddy fix. :-D

I am right there with Pam - no rats or snakes in my room. Anything else I think I could tolerate. Glad you are getting paid to play in the band on July 4. Just imagine - MORE MONEY for MORE FABRIC!! How exciting Suzanne!!

What instrument do you play? I love patriotic music especially with fireworks! I'm siding with Mom...no rats in my room!

Sounds like fun. Your mom was brave to sllep with a rat. What moms go through to be with their kids LOL's.
