Hi all.
I have so many things I want to share about the Road to California show this year.
One of the traveling shows of the Hoffman Challenge was on exhibit, there, and I have posted some pics on my personal blog in addition to links to Hoffman web pages for pics of the winners and information if you are interested in entering the Challenge this year. www.karenstenback.wordpress.com
Here is one pic from the Hoffman Challenge 2011 exhibit that I saw at Road.

Comment by Linda Christianson on January 30, 2012 at 1:20pm When I think Hoffman Challenge I think of the butterflies material in 1995. The morning I got shot at while waiting for the light to change. When I got to the store; the ladies in the fabric store were cutting the butterfly material. They knew I was in stress and helped me clam down and call the police. the more I looked at the fabric the more I had to have some, no matter the cost. I really never had bought fabric at that price before. So when I see Hoffman fabric I see $$$ and the gun shooting at me.
Comment by Karen Stenback on January 30, 2012 at 10:43am Thanks for the explanation, Janet! I was a bit confused about some of what went on, those early years. It has certainly blossomed into a beautiful show! I know Carolyn is very responsive to quilters and what they want, and continues to listen to us, as she continues to improve the show. I absolutely loved it! The Long Beach show is no comparison. I want to spend more time at the show, next year! And take another class. I have at least three more postings about my experience at the show, coming up, lol. And the quilts this year were Stunning!
Karen, I have been to Road to CA 3 times. It really is a nice show. Did Carolyn tell you that it was originally only a series of workshops and then the quilt display was added a couple of yrs later? Also, the reason it was blackballed for a while was because she used to limit the entries to only people who lived in certain states ( I believe it was CA, OR & WA). Eventually she added a few more including NV. I lived in N. Las Vegas at the time and it was only applicable to certain zip codes so everyone living in N. Las Vegas, Henderson & Boulder City were still not allowed to enter although quilters living in Las Vegas were. That really ticked a lot of people off because quite a few of them went to RD each yr. Believe me, she made sure that mistake was corrected for the following yr! LOL Now I see you can live anywhere & enter a quilt. That makes a lot more sense to me.
