Quilt With Us

round 2 of trying to get vacation time....

I am on vacation again this week.  I was suppose to have last week off but when someone was sick or hurt I was called in. I told the boss if you want me to work then I work the whole week and then take time off later.  One would think that being on vacation I would be sleeping in and enjoying my time off. Not so.  I've gotten up at at least 5am every morning.  The house is quiet for now. The other half is off to work and forgot to take his coveralls with him, so, me being up and he knew that, I took them down to where he works. WE won't tell him that I stopped for a latte on the way! I was up, I didn't say I was awake!

I have been playing with my brother sewing machine practicing my sit down quilting. I do like this sooooo much better but my only problem is trying to do feathers. No matter how I try to work them, up or down or side to side I just can't seem to get the nack for working them and having them look like feathers and not a 3 year olds art work. I keep looking at the youtube videos for doing feathers and that just doesn't click in my brain either.  I have even drawn them out on the material and found myself sewing my way back onto the lines.  Maybe in a few years I will get them down the way they should be and add them to a quilt.  I guess for now I will have to come up with something else to fill the open spaces on my quilts.

Too bad about your va-ca...oh well, you'll get another one, right?  As to your sitting and machine quilting?....at least you can do the feathers standing up? More than I can say for myself.   Try moving your machine to the kitchen counter and stand up while doing your feathers.  this is something that someone told me but unfortunately it still doesn't click.  I guess some of us are just not meant to be machine quilters, of any kind....that's why we appreciate you longarmmers.

DD is still carrying Aiden in the oven.  She is doing fine. We went to a mall, had lunch, did some walking, did some shopping, then more walking, more shopping, more walking.  This girl has been doing alot of walking. I'm on vacation for four more days, I'm sure we'll do more walking, more shopping ect ect.... he does have to come out sometime!
