Quilt With Us

I know my extended Quilt With Us family are quick to pray when the need arises. Sadly, yesterday there was a tragic accident here in town involving two high school boys, friends of my daughters. One boy, Jacob, a 15 year old freshmen lost his life. CJ, a Senior, is in critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN.

I ask you to remember the family of Jacob Gleason in your prayers as they deal with their tremendous loss and for CJ Shakal, that he has the strength to fight and survive his injuries. Also, please remember the students and staff of Waseca High School, as they come together today as a family grieving.

This is Homecoming Week, a time that should be filled with fun activities and all the joys of being young. Now, sadly, these kids are having to deal with one of life's toughest lessons.

This is every parent's worst nightmare. I thought going through what we did with Sarah was awful. But I can still kiss her, tell her I love her, caress her face and thank God she survived her brain tumor, even though her vision has been so severely impacted. This Mom kissed her son good-bye yesterday morning, never dreaming it would be for the last time. As a mom, my heart is just aching for the parents who have lost a precious child.

So, as you go about every day life today, remember to hug your children a little tighter, never miss the opportunity to kiss them and tell them you love them. And not just your children, but everyone special in your life, for there are no guarantees. Don't leave things left unsaid that you have been meaning to say, call someone you have drifted away from, forgive someone who has hurt you and live life to the fullest. If tomorrow should never come, have no regrets about today.

And before I close, I want all of you, my friends spread across the country and across the seas, to know how much I truly care about and value each and every one of you.

I'm so glad that you commented on my site so I can share your blog. I will remember your daughter and her friends in prayer. I hope you are doing ok with your RA - I have a dear friend who has had both knees replaced because of RA. Each day is a challenge so I understand in some small way your days also. As I look out my window the leaves are beginning to fall - which in my case means that my computer will work better! Living in the Upnorth area has many blessings and some real interesting conditions. Take care my friend! Talk to you soon. I have to work on my site...and there is that baby quilt to finish for my newest great grandgirl too. Never a moment to waste!

Such a sad story. I hadn't heard on our local news. I will definitely keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. And your family as well.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families in your community. Our town, too, has had its share of tragedy, losing young adults to accidents and suicides.

Mary we all care about you too and your family. Thank you for sharing with us these precious families who have experienced such a tragedy. About 3 weeks ago, a family across the street from my son lost their 16 year old son. Everyone in their neighborhood rallied around them and offered up their prayers, brought food and lent their support, just like your town is doing now. You are so right when you say not to take one moment for granted. Like all the other sweet sisters on QWU, I will be lifting up the Gleason family and pray that CJ will be strengthened and come through this.

Our town seems to go through this at least twice a year and is is absolutely heartbreaking to see such young lives cut short. My prayers go out to these families and your town. I will continue to pray that CJ comes through his injuries and for comfort for Jacob's family. As a mom, I can't imagine losing a child. My heart just breaks for them.

Mary--this is so sad. I'll be praying for Jacob's family and friends as they grieve for him and for CJ to come through this and heal from his injuries.
