I know my extended Quilt With Us family are quick to pray when the need arises. Sadly, yesterday there was a tragic accident here in town involving two high school boys, friends of my daughters. One boy, Jacob, a 15 year old freshmen lost his life. CJ, a Senior, is in critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN.
I ask you to remember the family of Jacob Gleason in your prayers as they deal with their tremendous loss and for CJ Shakal, that he has the strength to fight and survive his injuries. Also, please remember the students and staff of Waseca High School, as they come together today as a family grieving.
This is Homecoming Week, a time that should be filled with fun activities and all the joys of being young. Now, sadly, these kids are having to deal with one of life's toughest lessons.
This is every parent's worst nightmare. I thought going through what we did with Sarah was awful. But I can still kiss her, tell her I love her, caress her face and thank God she survived her brain tumor, even though her vision has been so severely impacted. This Mom kissed her son good-bye yesterday morning, never dreaming it would be for the last time. As a mom, my heart is just aching for the parents who have lost a precious child.
So, as you go about every day life today, remember to hug your children a little tighter, never miss the opportunity to kiss them and tell them you love them. And not just your children, but everyone special in your life, for there are no guarantees. Don't leave things left unsaid that you have been meaning to say, call someone you have drifted away from, forgive someone who has hurt you and live life to the fullest. If tomorrow should never come, have no regrets about today.
And before I close, I want all of you, my friends spread across the country and across the seas, to know how much I truly care about and value each and every one of you.
