Schmetz Universal Sewing Machine Needles

Any pros or cons with regard to Schmetz Needles. I bought some at a good price (special coupons at a Grand Opening of JoAnn's). I have used in the past their "jeans" needles and they worked fine. My faithful machine is a Singer 401A .

Thank you ladies - I am  confident that I should keep/use these needles.  Happy Sewing to all.

I too, can only get Schmetz needles and have never had a problem.  And I don't change my needles unless, they break or get bent.  Unless I want a different type of needle for the project I'm working on.  Like ball point for knits. etc.  I use titanium blades for my rotary cutter and love those.

I have used Schmetz needles in my Janome and have had no problems. The quilting needles were what an instructor that taught a FMQ class recommended

I have never used anything different and have no complaints.

I must say that I too love the Superior titanium needles.  They are made by Organ so I'm not sure they are any different than just buying Organ needles though.  I bought some at the AQS show in Grand Rapids MI in August to use with their King Tut variegated thread and they were wonderful to work with.

I have always been satisfied with the Schmetz needles, but now you've peaked my interest, and I want to try those Superior Titaniums...which reminds me, I'm overdue to put in a fresh needle.

I use them all the time without complaint.  Good thing, as the only fabric shop that is still in business here is the only place to buy needles and they only stock Schmetz.

I have used them in my Janome and Bernina machines.

I also use Schmetz needles; my Bernina 1260 works best with the size 70 sharps (not universal) for piecing.  I put in a new needle about every third project and get terrific results, unless I do something stupid like running over a pin!  I'll have to try the Superior Titaniums, BJ.

I used Schmetz for years, and still have some, but I have switched over to the Superior Titanium needles and love them. They last and stay sharp so much longer.
