Oh my where did the summer go? Well, for the most part I think it melted away; like many of you we had a very warm one and it continues today. Good news is that 'they' say it will be cooler next week. Yea!!!
Overall, it has been a busy summer. Our oldest daughter and family moved to Indiana after school was out in June; their son spent three weeks with us in June while he took part in Niabi Zoo's Junior Zookeeper Program. He had a ball and was very appreciated by the zoo; they plan to invite him back for next year's program; of course, we hope his school calendar will allow that. He is also my quilter so we did a bit of that while he was here; he even quilted his cousin's birthday quilt so I could continue to work on his sister's and plan one I was working on for him. All kids and grandkids and granddogs were here over the Fourth to celebrate family birthdays - son-in-law, husband, and three grandchildren. Great times were had by all and two went home with new quilts for their rooms. Shortly after everyone returned home, our youngest daughter's husband accepted a new position with Kellogg in Atlanta GA - much too far away, but thankful he has a job. They completed that move by mid-August and are settling in with new school, new and old friends and a wonderful church family.
I have completed Caleb's new quilt but am holding on to it to show in our local quilt show this month; he is anxious to receive it and get 'the little boy safari quilt' of his bed and replace it with a music quilt. He is now 15 and deserves a teenager quilt. In addition I have completed several customer quilts which will also hang in our show this fall. I am currently finishing a 9-11 Memorial Quilt which will go the our local fire department for a fundraiser; the goal is to have it to them next week.
If that hasn't been enough 'quilting fun' i spent a weekend with my best friends decorating niece's new quilt studio. We had a riot shopping, hanging pictures and selecting quilts from various piles to hang throughout the studio. The space is complete with bath, kitchenette and bedroom so we really got to play with a variety of ideas. Now that I read this book I guess I know where the summer melted away to so will go find the photos to post of above fun and head on into fall. Happy Quilting everyone....
