Quilt With Us

I have this pattern called Sheep Shape baby quilt. When I go to print off the templates,it has a "legend" at the bottom of page - it's a straight line that is to measure 2 inches. When I print off the template, the line is only 1 3/4". I am printing at 100% like it says to do - my question is, will my pattern still work? One lady at a quilt shop said "no"it won't. but I can't find anyone or anywhere to answer my question. Can someone please help e? My daughter wants this quilt for her baby. The pattern is from Quiltmaker Magazine, May/June 2014.

Thank you - Becky

I'm going to pass along your info on the Adobe Reader to my quilt group, too. Good info to know! Yes, I will post a pic when I get the quilt done. Now, I can shop for the fabric - it's going to be in flannel fabric, so now I can get started. Thanks again!

You are very welcome.  I was happy to help.  I discovered this after printing out a lot of pages for a class through Bluprint (formerly Craftsy).  I was so frustrated that I just tossed everything in the trash & vowed I would just not make the cute project.  Then it occurred to me to double check to see if I still had Adobe Reader downloaded to my computer, which I did not.  So once I downloaded that again & used Google I was good to go.  Be sure to post a pic of your project when you get it done Becky.  We would all love to see it.

Huzzah!  A better answer!  I use an Apple Mac Pro and always print from Google, so your solution never would have occurred to me, Janet.  Good job!

Hallelujah - it worked, Janet - thank you so much! I was going nutty trying to figure this out. You are a life saver - have a great evening!

Becky, I recently ran into this same problem.  I was using Microsoft Edge at the time.  So I downloaded Adobe Reader and only print from Google.  Now my templates come out the right size.  When I tried to print from Microsoft using Adobe my templates came out too small again.

I might have to do that,Carol-thanks! It's been so frustrating! I don't know why it wouldn't work the way it is, but I'm not the expert.

Okay, my other suggestion is to print out your templates, enlarged 100% as the magazine suggests, then take the printed sheets to a copy shop (hopefully there is one in or near your community) and have them enlarged until the legend line measures 2".  My local copy shop is always happy to help me get it right.  I would take the magazine with the pattern along with you to satisfy the copy shop that you are not infringing upon a copyright.

Hi Carol,It is a pieced quilt - half hexagons sewed in rows and then sewed together. It does have a little bit of appliquie on it with a few flowers and sheep, but the main quilt is pieced.

I'm afraid I just ditched all my archived copies of Quiltmaker Magazine, Becky, so I can't look the pattern up to see if you are talking about appliqued or pieced Sheep Shapes.  Appliqued shapes can be enlarged (say to 120%) on your copy machine to fill the backgrounds, but pieced templates are another matter.

Sorry I can't be more help.
