Quilt With Us

Mom called to say my brother, Lindsey, who is 6 years older than me, suffered a stroke this afternoon and is in the hospital. That was a shocker because he's had the least health problems of the whole family. Another call later - can move both legs and arms, but can't remember his name, or where he lives, or things like that. Dr says brother will be in hospital 4-5 days, then rehab, then will need to go home with someone. Since he's single, Mom is assuming that will mean coming home to her house. I'm headed up to Mom's house later tonight or tomorrow morning (have to do laundry first), then we'll head up to Spokane's Sacred Heart Hospital. Thank God that I have a housesitter that I can call at a moment's notice to come take care of all the animals, and that school doesn't start for another week.

Hope all turns out well - often the memory loss is temporary. My uncle made a full recovery from his stroke some years ago.

Oh Suzanne, so sorry to hear about your brother and his stroke. Wonderful that he can move his legs and arms. His memory will very likely return as well. Keep us posted and be careful on the roads.

Suzanne - I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope he will be able to make a good recovery. Don't get discouraged if early reports aren't good because the doctors really do not know what will happen. Therapy and time can really help the brain recover. I'll be keeping your family in my thoughts.
