Quilt With Us

It's me, it just has to be me.  It never fails that when I want to make something I can't.  Still trying to get the house finished up and sold.  I have a few ideas that I really want to work on but no where to work at.  Our house is basically empty so that we can paint and fix the things we discovered were not up to code.  Maybe I should stop thinking about all the things that I want to do while I'm painting or cleaning.  I finally sold my Tin Lizzie long arm machine, and bought the Handi Quilter sweet 16 so that I can sit at the table and work on quilts when I land somewhere that I have a room to work in.

DD called yesterday to ask if I would come over to help her with the sewing machine I gave her.  She has problems with the bobbin.  Turns out she wanted me to wind a bunch of bobbins for her so that she wouldn't have to figure that out herself.  She also wanted to know what the buttons on the machine do.  She googles everything under the sun but won't look up sewing machine bobbins.  Any way I went over to her house and explained parts of the machine and discovered that I didn't give her the owners manual which is now packed and in storage. While I was explaining the machine to DD, Aiden was standing between us watching.  After I was finished with DD I went to see what Lucas was playing with.  Mom had bought him some puzzles to play with.  The next thing we knew:

Aiden was busy sewing up some material!  I had showed DD how to change the presser foot for the different stitches that the machine make and this is what we found when we walked back into the sewing table. Aiden had learned to pick a stitch and find the presser foot that the machine says to use and was changing the foot.  Love that little guy.

Start them young! My 12 yr. old grandson made a really nice pillow at school. He wonders into my sewing room, but doesn't want to sew! Good luck with the house...getting things off the list around here. Feels good not to have to worry about it!

Yes, way to go Aiden! I am sorry you are having trouble with dealing with the house and your desire to do something creative.  Hang in there.  (and it is not your fault)

Kids are so smart and they are PAYING ATTENTION way more than what we realize sometimes.  Many times we do too much for them instead of stepping back and watching them figure it out for themselves.  Way to go, Aiden!
