Quilt With Us

My 19 year old daughter left for a 2 wk study abroad trip to London and to Edinburgh. She is a country girl who has hardly been out of the State of Nebraska. She is a confident, capable girl, but is self-admittedly WAY out of her comfort zone. Any prayers you'd like to send up for her while she travels would be appreciated by both her and her parents.

PS: I suggested she stop in at the Loch Lomond Quilt show in Scotland while she was there, but she just rolled her eyes. She was frankly a little concerned about her mother's quilting obsession that I would even KNOW about a quilt show halfway around the world...

oh and her next trip abroad will be to Scotland, it is her ideal trip. While she was in Japan she traveled to Australia and New Zealand.

I missed your blog about your daughter going away. Several years ago my daughter left for Japan for an unknown period of time (it ended up being 1.5 years) it was very hard for me to watch my baby go off. Oh she had left for University and been away but never more than 2 hr. drive if she needed us. I think the first time she left I cried from September to Christmas LOL. Japan was a bit harder though, thank God for MSN. We soon learned the time difference and talked on there almost daily, that certainly made it easier. The confidence it gave her to be on her own so far away was invaluable to her. Now she lives in the big city of Toronto, and is doing great (it is only 1 hour away) I am very proud of her.

Dear Prairie Quilter: my prayers are with you & daughter. I really like your whole cloth quilts too. I'm trying for 1st time machine qlting. It's too long-4 single blocks at length & feels messy. I've promised myself not to tear it out & handquilt it. I have a 25yr old-Josh who wants to visit Edinburgh Univ-college of engineering for adv degree in mechanical engineering. Too bad I didn't mention him sooner; I'm the old matchmaker who's always a day late. At least I'm Qing again. Betty

What's the latest news on your daughters trip? It sounds like such a fantastic opportunity--is she with friends--like-minded friends? That trip is on my bucket list--especially after the Austin movies/books!! I'd like to tack on a bit of Ireland, also! I guess that most of us from Nebr. have a touch of heredity from several areas of the world we'd like to visit!

I'm sending prayers for you but know she will be fine. I turned 20 in London. A small town kid from No Where Texas and I still remember the wonderful experience all these years (lots) later. You'll both be fine!

What a wonderful opportunity for her. Too bad you couldn't have gone along just to see the sites! She'll have a great time and I'm certain her parents have instilled enough of themselves in her - she'll do well. I will keep her in my prayers.

I will be praying for your daughter as she travels and for you as well. It's hard when our children begin adventuring on their own. I hope she has a wonderful time and tucks away a lifetime of memories.
