Quilt With Us

This has been the weirdest winter so far.  Lots of snow at Thanksgiving & then barely any for the entire month of December.  Then yesterday we were really hit!  We lost power for 4 hrs last night.  Thank goodness for quilts & a fireplace!  Our lights keep dimming this morning so I sure hope we don't lost power again.   We have a lot of broken branches & it appears our neighbors do as well.  It is continuing to come down so I suspect it will be a few days before we will be able to clean up some of the mess.

This is the view of our backyard.  You can see how much snow fell by looking at the of our patio table.

This is a view of our front  yard toward the MO River.  You can't see the river itself because it is down over the hill, but there are lots of tree branches down in that area.

It appears that we got somewhere in the neighborhood of 20".  Temps are going to stay cold all week & they are now saying another big storm is predicted to hit again this coming weekend. Yuck!

Glad your electricity is back on.  What an unusual winter!  Here in mid-Wisconsin we have very little snow.  Very strange for us to have had way less than you.  Even our kids in Topeka, KS have had more snow than us.  But then, they have also had some gorgeous 60+ degree days, too.  Keep those warm quilts handy!

I have that same patio table here in Iowa;{ I gotta get out and clear the driveway so I can get to work tomorrow. I have a snowblower, but I don't know how to use it. DH told me I needed to learn how to operate it, but I didn't listen.  My son is coming over after while to help-after he digs out.  Love the Midwest.

Lynne, my sisters told me that they don't have any snow on the ground.  This storm apparently missed Michigan and then continued further northeast.  It is snowing right now so I suspect school will be cancelled for tomorrow.  It is so heavy that a roof collapsed on a building in Columbia MO yesterday and a plane slid off the runway at Columbia Regional airport.

Janet,, we are very dry in this part of Michigan.  Not sure what the western part has, but the eastern is down quite a bit from our average snow fall.

Wow!  I don't think we've ever had that much snow in western washington.  Seems like you are getting all the weather.  Up here mild doesn't really come close to describing our winter.  Usually we have a good month or so of freezing weather.  I think its dropped below 32 maybe a dozen times sense the first frost back in November.  Now we have had rain but for washington that's normal.  I'd say as long as you have power it's quilting time.

I would say you got socked in pretty good. But it's so pretty. But when the power goes out it's not good. I wish we would just get snow. It seems every snow fall we get it's followed by rain. Then turns cold leaving us with an icy mess. It was this way last Winter also.

You did get dumped on...luckily, it's going south of NY. Not having electric is the worse. We have our house wired for a generator, because you can'y run water from the well without electric. Our winter has been a weird pattern also! Stay warm

We had a lot of rain and then sleet and ice with the snow over here in the KC area.

Our backyard has trees touching the ground here as well. I noticed it has started snowing again, a lot heavier than it was yesterday. This really is strange weather. Keep warm and stay safe.
