Greetings and Happy New Year! I thought I'd share some of my latest projects with you.
This is the smocked dress I made for my daughter for Christmas. The beaded organza overlay was really hard to smock though and I almost threw the project out because the polyester pleated up so poorly! I'm glad I didn't give up though, she is so preious wearing it. It's been nicknamed "Tiana" after Disney's "Princess and the Frog"--she names all the dresses I sew for her. It was difficult but worth it!
Here are some of my latest quilt tops...that I now need to quilt.
FYI I've also changed the blog address of my machine quilting services to make it more appropriate. It's new URL is http://moderntraditionquilts.blogspot.com. I also have added a blog about smocking http://moderntraditionssmocking.blogspot.com. They're linked to one another and I've put more information about these quilt tops and photos of my latest work for customers on it as well. Have a nice day!

Comment by Terry F on January 8, 2013 at 7:51am Hi Shannon, I've been waiting to see what you've been up to, and it was worth the wait! The dress is gorgeous! I've never tried smocking anything with an overlay but I can imagine how hard it was. I had some eye surgery in late summer and will try to smock again for Easter, but I'm not sure that I can anymore. Will give it a shot, though! The quilts are lovely too, you've been busy! Going to check out your smocking blog!

Comment by Barb/WI on January 8, 2013 at 5:32am Smoking will always be one of my favorite ways to see a little girls dress become something worthy of a true princess. Beautiful quilt tops, too. Those colors really pop against the white snow.
Comment by Evelyn Johnson on January 8, 2013 at 5:18am Love your quilt tops too. And the fact that you take them outside in the snow for pics!
Comment by Evelyn Johnson on January 8, 2013 at 5:16am I always loved smocked dresses when my daughter was little. No granddaughters yet to buy them for though, just grandsons. This is beautiful
