Sometimes it is nice teaching classes with mostly female students

Although it can be frustrating teaching teenage girls, there are some up sides too. Especially when they start experiencing oldie, but goodie, movies and then telling their friends about them. Then they all want to see them. But I can't figure out a way to fit them into the curriculum. SO, our solution? We're having a "Chick Flick Movie Night" next Friday after school until 11:00pm. (They wanted to do an all-nighter, but I can't do that and I doubt the parents would go for that, too.) The two guys have already said they don't want to watch the movies....LOL. Guess what we're watching.....

Gone With The WInd, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and The Blind Side

A fellow teacher asked what I was going to be doing. Well, that's easy - I'm going to pull up my most comfortable chair and blankie, put my sewing basket and pincushion Christmas presents nearby, watch the movies and ignore the students ( as usual.....LOL). I'm sure there will be planty of food and I intend to get a lot of sewing done.

Sounds like great fun!  Say, if they are Chick flicks, well that fits in.... chicks are animals. LOL  We watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers just a couple weeks ago (again). I have not seen The Blind Side, but it is one I'd love to see some day.  You and the girls have fun!

Oooh, I love those too quilting mama - and of course, I just happen to have them all...LOL.  They were also considering West Side Story and Guys and Dolls.  And I would also love to show them Gentlemen Prefer Blondes or Bus Stop with Marilyn Monroe.  One student wants to watch the Broadway play Into the Woods, but I think we are the only two who want to see that - she'll need to talk it up more with her classmates.  :-)

Good choices!  Should be a fun night!

What a great idea!  You are such a good teacher--teaching isn't just about what goes on in the classroom during the school day, is it?  "Philadelphia Story" (an oldie) and "Kate and Leopold" are two of my favorites.

That sounds like a great way for these kids to spend a Fri night.  My dd, who is 30, has started watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies.  She has now "fallen in love" with Cary Grant & Jimmy Stewart.  LOL

LOL  This sounds like my daughter.  She use to work for AT & T. Once a month they would have movie night during the summer for charities.  Ok the down side to this was bringing the popcorn  and pop for the kids and sitting outside watching said movies on the side of the grocery store building. Oh yes we did...
