Southern Stars Block of the Month Top Done!

A couple of months behind, but here is my Southern Stars Block of the Month Top completed with the CT Irresistable Indigo 3 fabrics. I want this to be an extra warm quilt for my Father-in-law for Christmas; I plan to back it in Flannel. Any suggestions for an extra warm bat? Wool? Insul-Bright? I will be machine quilting this in the interest of time, however, I really enjoyed this process and plan to make another for me with different colors and will hand quilt that one. Thank you Paula and CT!

Thank you all for the compliments and encouragement. I was leaning towards wool but I hadn't thought of the heavyness of it. He had to have his colon out and the poor thing is always cold now; even wearing fleece through the summer when the rest of us were melting. Thank you Valma for your thought.

A beautiful with lovely colors. About the batting, I wonder if there is much difference in the weight between the wool and other battings. Does your father-in-law like to sleep under heavy quilts? I know that a lot of us older people don't like heavy quilts or blankets as it is hard to turn over when sleeping under them. Just a thought from an old lady.

I've just used the bamboo batting in a winter quilt for my mother's bed. It's very soft and can be quilted up to 8" apart. So many choices out there!

Beautiful Lisa. I have the kit from CT but have not done anything with it yet. You may just have given me enough incentive to get it started. Have a great day. Looking forward to seeing yours when you get it done.

Beautiful job! For insulation try THERMORE by HOBBS for a warm, light batt. It's thin but very warm, it's used in insulating winter clothes. It's also very nice to work with. Please remember to post a picture of your next quilt.

Beautiful. Love the indigo fabrics. I like the wool batt also, but can't really give advice, because I don't know much about other really warm options.

It is beautiful....very nice color combo...I use warm and natural usually...but if it was me I would use WOOL for warmth...it would give it a good feel...

It's beautiful!

Wool would be really warm and has more loft, Thermore Thinsulate is ultra thin and still quite warm.
