Quilt With Us

I've been spending much of the last two weekends working on two quilts for my co-worker, Sharon. Sharon's mother used to quilt...and when she passed away Sharon gave me a box of unfinished quilts, mainly squares. When Sharon became a grandmother herself--I couldn't resist creating a quilt for her granddaughter using the dresden plate blocks Sharon's mother started. It's getting nearer to finally being finished! Lots of hand-quilting in it.... And if that's not enough--Sharon's daughter is due to have a baby boy in October....so I have went thru the box of squares again--and put something together for a baby boy. All that is left on that is the binding since I "tied" it--but by machine instead. Sharon knows about the one for her granddaughter--but knows nothing about the one for the grandson. She cried when she saw the one for the granddaughter...(brought it into work when I had the top together for her to see)....so surely she will cry again when she sees one for the baby boy! I'm so happy to see that these little children---get something their Great Grandmother started! For I know if she was still living--she would have made these children quilts. As exciting as it is to bring these special deliveries to Sharon and her grandchildren..... It's exciting knowing I'll be able to get back to my other projects waiting in the wings! Happy Quilting!!

I will be sure to post photos of these "special deliveries"!! I put the binding on the boy quilt tonight...and now to get moving on the pink one! I love how when you get close to having these close to finished--you just can't stop working on them! Gets exciting!! Projects almost done!--and able to get onto new or old ones yet waiting in the wings!

Renae, what a special friend you are. I am sure Sharon will be thrilled as well as the parents of these little ones who are receiving the quilts and I am sure Grandma is looking down on you and sending special blessings your way. Hugs to you from me too!!

What special and wonderful gifts you are making for those babies, from their grandmother's quilting fabrics and blocks. You are so very thoughtful to do this. They will treasure them forever!
