Quilt With Us

Happy Spring to All!  We are on spring break here in Oregon, at least the part I live in.  Instead of snow, we've been deluged with rain, but there are promises of nice (even sunny) weather at the end of the week.  I have this week off from work (school), I was busy over the weekend finishing up a quilt for my co-worker, Carol.  Carol was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Three other co-workers and myself decided to make her a quilt (none of the others are quilters).  We stayed after work one night and got the quilt top done, minus the borders.  As we quilters know, the top is just the first part of the quilting process.  Soooo, I brought the top home, added the borders and this last weekend finished it up.  Last Friday I took in a label and had all the staff sign it, there were some heartfelt messages on that label.  Yesterday, the three other gals and I took it up to Carol.  She loved it!  She is facing more chemo/possible surgery and now she has a quilt to help comfort her through that.  This is the same chevron pattern I made for my sister in January, so pardon the repetition, but it was a quick, easy pattern and one that I could easily teach to the other gals.  The fabric we used was a combined effort, I'm not sure how the orange fabric got voted in, but we went with it!

On another note, I mentioned in my last post that we were remodeling the kitchen.  We are finally done!  I'm posting a pic of my youngest son's 21st bday dinner in the remodeled (but messy) kitchen.

What a wonderful gift. It does also show the up roads and down roads a person has to face with cancer. May the treatments bring her years of cure from cancer.

What a great quilt! I think that pop of orange is quite cheerful! Such a wonderful gift of love.

Your kitchen looks great.

Your friend will truly be comforted as she is wrapped up in her quilt and the love & caring of her good friends. You are a special group.

Patients often are cold when they are receiving their chemo treatment.  How generous of you and friends to share with her.  May her treatment be successful.

Those heartfelt quilts are the best.  Bless you for giving your time and talents.

Wish we could have some of your rain.  We've had neither snow nor rain.

Good job! The orange fabric is cheery and goes well with the print it is next to. Your kitchen is lovely and the birthday man is cute.
