Yes startch can be your friend too.  Before beginning this compass star I washed, pressed and startched all the material.  I know it sounds like a ton of work but then I was on vacation with nothing better to do!  LOL 

Barbara Graham wanted to know what the next step in this creation was going to be and the photo is below.  FYI the block is not done yet, sorry you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the finished block.  Ok so I haven't cut all the pieces yet.

I agree....starch is indeed a good quilting friend.  Years ago I used to soak my newly purchased yardage in the bath tub with lots of starch, hand to dry and then press it.  Now, I'm really liking Mary Ellens.

Yes, I want this pattern too!  And you should really think about a book!  That would be awesome and I would be your first customer!  P.S. I love using starch as well, when doing this type of piecing!

You're right.  I have found that starch can make cutting more accurate for these intricate blocks.  You are a master of sharp angled pieces!
