Quilt With Us

I have an almost going on 3 GD that is enthralled with - of all things - porcupines! Uh huh, porcupines. DD & DSIL have taken GD to the Nashville Zoo & the St Louis Zoo at least 5 times in the last 2 yrs. She loves the rodent! DD goes to UTube and GD sits and watches the postings of porcupines there. I've searched but only have found hedge hogs on fabrics. Would anyone know where I could purchase fabric with porcupines on it. I've even searched under the words "woodland creatures" but the racoon or skunk comes up but not the p'pines. Surely someone has noticed this odd animal on fabric somewhere! Many hands make light the work, maybe many great minds on the same wave length (quilting) will prevail! Thank you!

Sorry Christine don't ever remember seeing porcupines on material. You may have to do some pictures on fabric and put them into a quilt. Good luck with that one.

Have you tried the website of "missingfabrics.com"...... I am looking for a fabric that has a fluer-de-lis in hopefully a purple/gold color way.

I saw a little blurb in a magazine where you could send your design and they would produce a fabric with it. It's at www.spoonflower.com. While the fabric is pretty expensive ($18-32/yard), this is after all for a grandbaby!

I found some cute porcupine fabric on etsy.com, but the only hitch is that it comes from Japan. Otherwise, I agree with the other ladies, picture transfer is the way to go. Good Luck. :-)

Have you tried EQuilter? I think I've seen some hedgehog fabric, so I would think they may have porcupines. The challenge is on....

Maybe you could find a good picture of a porcupine online, and then print the picture onto the special fabric sheets that go through the printer. Then use the transferred design as the centerpiece of a quilt or whatever you had in mind to create.

Only thing I can think of is maybe photo transfer.

Boy, that is a tough one. Hedgehogs may be the closest thing - and with her being so fascinated may not live up to her expectations. :0) Good luck.
