I just finished making 2 pillows from this strips sampler
- my own slap happy design (meaning I didn't use a pattern and sort of flew by the seat of my pants making them).
My living room colors are all Sweet & Sour based (see the plaid quilt on the back of the sofa?), so I thought I needed something more than the solid pillows to dress up the room a little. Since I'm working on my Foundation Piecing Techniques month, I decided to incorporate the next lesson into the pillows, so I used a muslin foundation and sewed skinny strips down. This technique is also known as string quilt blocks and works great with scraps.
Here are my instructions - this is not a pattern really, more like pictures of the steps as I made them. Diagonal pillow.pdf
If you like this method, watch for Week 4 of Foundation Piecing where I'll cover this in more depth.
