Well Ladies you will be so proud of me. I didn't flood the parking lot in Bangor with tears when I transferred my beloved parrot from my car to his new Mommy's car.  The lady is lovely and told me that before her mother died she said,  "I know you have longed to build a bird sanctuary and I'm going to give you the money to do it."  Her mother lived to see the finish sanctuary and died knowing her daughters passion was being fulfilled.

I do miss him and his antics but know I made a good decision and that he is in good hands.  The house is very quiet but it seems good.

Margaret called me in the evening after she got him home and said she had him in her house and he was taking nuts from her and was talking up a storm.  She planned to put him in the room with the other birds today.   As they say "All's well that ends well.

I'm glad your precious companion bird has found a good place to perch. I'm sending enough hugs to keep you going for a while.

How wonderful the lady called you and let you know how your bird is doing. That had to be a wonderful, and relieving, call.

Be sure to post your bird you make like the pic Pam posted. It's great!

So happy to hear that you are at ease.  You did the right thing, and I know how hard it is.  I currently have 4 kittens that a stray decided to have under our porch earlier this year and well....now both DH and I are attached.  I already have 2 cats in the house and just can't do 4 more.  I know a lady that takes fosters and she is currently looking for their furrever homes.  It will be tough to give them up but I know she will find them good homes.

You've done the right thing for your bird and that's the most important thing.  The knowledge that he's in good hands will help ease the pain of having to give him up.

Sounds like everything will be fine...maybe he'll meet a girlie-bird and you'll be a grammy soon!!!!

You are braver than I am.  I love animals as well.  I have the yorkies and retriever here and I can't give them to anyone. I'm glad the lady who took your parrot called to tell you how he was doing.  I'm sure she will take good care of him or find him a good home.  Someone who takes the time to let you know about your pet will take good care of him.

You are a good pet owner! Sometimes there are tough decisions to make, but it sounds like you did the right thing.

I'm glad your heart is telling you your bird is in good hands.  When your gut is telling you all is well, it generally is.  Way to go, Irene.
