Quilt With Us

Happy Monday.. grab a cup of tea ladies this may be a long one!! My husband decided to paint our powder room... baby blue. My house is all and I mean all earth tones...blacks, browns, mocha, grey.. my sewing room Burnt orange. I just don't do Blue. Its not that I don't like blue, I have blue clothes and blue things it's just not a colour I choose to live with. SOOooo I thought I'll make a wallhanging and tone down that blue. Worked all last weekend brown and blue log cabin, quilted it, bound it, but then before the handsewing I thought I should step back and get a clearer look...OMG... it looks like a mad owl or one of those crazy tree faces!!!! Take a look.. but I'm listening for the laughter LOL!!! Sooo plan B... I made a black bargello for my daughter a while ago and had a piece of the strip set left over. I put it on the shelf, it would be on the floor, I put on the ironing board it would be on the floor. I've been kicking it around for a couple of years so I thought this was a sign. I'm supposed to do something with this so I did. I cut it up and bargelloed it, added some black.. then some red... then some yarn and flowers and beads and buttons and sequins and OMG I got carried away!!! The buttons by the way are from DH grandmothers button box.. so old that most are made from seashells!!! Now I have two wallhangings that don't go with blue though I rather like the black one it doesn't fit anywhere in this house....so plan C... I don't have a plan C ...yet... but I'm sure something will come to me!!! That blue is not gonna beat me... I am a quilter!!!! The pictures are backwards but this way you'll have the last laugh!!!

Love them both, Lynda. Wondered like Shannon if you turned it so it wasn't on point if it would look better. But love them and the colours and think either would look nice. What difference the wall colour? It is a quilt!! Hugs to you.

I love the blue and brown one!it goes great with the walls. just turn so it is not on point and the face will disappear LOL. Blue and brown is a great colour combo--very rich.

Look at it this way, you're almost ready for your very own quilt show. Just keep trying! And I like old buttons. . .

The shade is the colour you see behind the owl butterfly??? Next to blue its gray and next to gray its blue. Heaven forbid it be something normal lol!!!

I like both the wallhangings but I think I need to know what shade of blue did your DH use? I think if you really "USE" your imagination you will see a butterfly in the log cabin quilt.

Love both wall hangings. At least your DH will let you hang something. My DH does not like holes in the walls. I'm not allowed to hang anything anywhere.

Love both quilts! Buy a coordinating shower curtain and call it a day.

I love your wild flowers with the buttons. I'm not controlled by wall colors when I hang a quilt. I think everyone focuses on the quilt and ignores the walls. However, it is a good excuse to buy more fabric and make another quilt.
