Quilt With Us

Went to the Doc today for my yearly visit. Went over all the blood work reports, and he is recommending a test that I will be taking next January since the insurance will probably not pay for it and at least then I can claim it on the cafeteria plan and get reimbursed for it. (Is is really reimbursement since the money is withheld from the paycheck to start with?) He wants me to start taking a daily aspirin, and to increase my Vitamin D3 to 2,000 units per day (wants me to increase it for DH also). And of course try to loose some weight to help alleviate some of the arthritis pain. Other than that I am in good health and the blood work was well within "normal parameters." Anyway, I was able to get my H1N1 shot while I was there. I am in a risk group, but not in any of the ones that the Public Health Department Clinics recognize, besides I do not think I could stand in those long lines if they would list "people at risk who are over the age of . . ." Right now my arm is sore. Sort of feels like getting a pneumonia shot. At least DH will be happy to hear I have finally received my shot.

Now I have to schedule my mammogram and follow-up bone density test. At least I can get them both done at the same place/time. Osteoporosis is a very familiar trait in my family. Even my brothers have had hips replaced (and they are all younger than I am). Speaking of mammograms, have you ever wondered what the procedure would be if men had to go in and get certain parts of their bodies examined by a compression machine every year? I know DH did have to get his "breasts" examined one time, but they sent him in to have a CT scan done. Not fair! And he has never complained about bruising after getting his yearly prostate exam, so what is up with the mammogram compression machine?

Actually I am thankful that I am as healthy as I am. I might not be able to move as fast as I once did, and I never was all that graceful, but I can move. As DH often says, "I woke up this morning, and I am vertical (more or less), so today is a good day."

I read your yearly physical posting. I broke my ankle years ago and now I have arthritis in that ankle and there is nothing they can do about it. My husband had a total knee replacement 7 weeks ago and he is still getting over it. But, it was because of arthritis. My thoughts is I'm glad it isn't in my hands. I hope your isn't in your hands.
I see where you have 4 cats. The other night I couldn't sleep. I saw a program call Cats 101. Wow, I never knew how much I don't know about cats. I had two cats before I got married. Carl can't be around cats. But, even back then all I knew is that I loved them. I thought if I could ever have a Cat I would get a Rag Doll or a Bonbay cat. Ofcourse that's just a dream. O' where was I, O' does your cats know when your arthritis is hurting you? Just a thought.

Hey, doc, how about prescribing a great massage to go with that aspirin!

I am glad to hear you are in good health. You are funny, thank you for the laugh.
Don't you have asthma? That would put you in a risk factor, as I am because of it for the HINI. I need to get my vaccine, I keep putting it off, thinking they are so high in demand.
Take Care, and thank you for the update.

Cat Lady, I am glad to hear that all went well. I need to get my mammogrammie done also. I should have had it a few weeks ago, about the time DH was in the hospital. I must be pretty healthy also, since they never change anything around. I hope I stay that way since I hardly have time to eat some days. Thanks for sharing and caring...........
