Quilt With Us

Yeah!  Another UFO is done!  Finished the binding in the car yesterday on the way to and from radiation.

This was another block of the month from our LQS.  It's a Pennsylvania Dutch "Distelfink" Sampler in wool.  Each shape and color has a meaning.  Example:  the star mean protection, hope, energy, harmony...the heart means love and the leaves under the heart means love will grow...plus the colors all have a meaning, blue is peace, calmness, brown is mother earth, strength, green is growth and fertility, yellow is health, red is emotions, passion and black is protection and a blender.  It was a fun class and interesting to learn about their customs while picking out our colors.  many of you probably all ready know this but it was new to me.

Just a quick update since many of you have asked: I started my radiation yesterday after another speed bumb.  My CT scan for tattooing and mapping found another "mass" so I had to wait until I could get into the specialist to find out if it was a new turmor or scarring from the previous one.  A week later they found that is was not a new tumor and just post-op scarring. It was a little frightening because it would have meant another surgery and more bone removal...Not something I wanted to live thru again....So Thank the Lord...I am on a downhill slide.  One rad treatment down...24 to go over the next 5 weeks...bummer that it's a 3 hr round trip but we do what we have to do.  Happy Friday to all.....

Beautifully done, my friend.  Hang in there, treatments are rough, I am sure, but take it a day at a time, keep a positive attitude, that is half the battle, enjoy your favorite things, hobbies and friends.  God will take care of you, I have faith in that!  If my hugs and well wishes have anything to do with you feeling better, you take as many hugs and well wishes that you need!  I'll make more!  :)

I hope you are feeling ok, I love the quilt. Time flies when we stay busy. I haven't had time to turn around.  I just need to get my quilting organized and ready to work on .  Take care, my thoughts are with you.

You've been in my prayers.  You said once that cancer makes you feel like your life is in little pieces.  It's been 9 1/2 years for me but I had a scare this spring, which ended up being nothing, but everything went to pieces again for a few weeks.  Hang in there and blessings to you.

My thoughts and prayers go with you Debbie, and maybe work on your UFO enroute to your radiation treatments and you'll have. One thing to show for your car travels.

Love your wool work.  I picked up a tiny wool pillow kit the other day at a quilt show, and I will think of you, your long car rides, and "distelfink"  every time I work on it!

Many hugs!!!

What a lovely sampler!

One rad done, and the rest should be much easier.  I wish I could ride with you and get to scream 'distelfink' when we hit a pothole.  Take care, and know that you are in my prayers.

BJ - I get the dibs on dark chocolate at party time.

Your Distlefink  is great! It's a new one to me and thank you for the meanings of the different shapes. It's such an 'exciting' drive between your place and radiation (LOL)  -- glad you can work on projects in the car!  We'll be doing the Rad countdown with you and then it is going to be party time! WooHoo!

A good use of time to finish or work on small projects while riding in the car. So glad that it's scarring. It may seem like 5 weeks is a long time, but it will pass very quickly. Prayers are with you.
