Quilt With Us

Good morning-
Good news...My nephew is doing a lot better. Had a few tough days, this definitely is a tough disease to kill once it gets into your lungs. We were able to get him on the Chloroquine and Z pack along with a nasty antibiotic.
After doing some research on face masks...if, you are making them, keep in mind that vacuum cleaner bags are a great filter. I am making mine with a pocket to slip in a new filter everyday. One bag can make many 5x6 filters.

Prayers for all to get through this safely. There are so many sacrificing in our communities to keep us safe!

Thanks Janet for the fiberglass tip. I am only making face masks for family and friends, but it's nice to know what the hospitals are looking for!

So glad for the good news! Our local hospital (we only have one in Bend) gave us instructions and a pattern for what they want. I'm posting a blog with a tutorial if you want to have a look. It also has a pouch for a filter, which they will provide, along with a wire to fit it to the nose. I'm using up some of my stash.

I just read online that people need to be very careful about what type of vacuum cleaner bags they use as some of fiberglass in them.  I have also heard that people are using coffee filters cut to size.

I'm glad your nephew is getting better. So far here in Washington County no word of this virus being here. Thanks for the tip on vacuum cleaner bags. I have a lot of them and planning on making some masks. So will make sure I will line them with the bags.
