Quilt With Us

Sorry I haven't been very active here - I've been too busy getting ready to move, and recovering from my knee replacement.  It's been an extremely busy month for this girl!  But I'm actually sitting here with nothing to do for the moment - my Vancouver house is rented, I found a house in the Seattle area, the movers have come and gone and they'll meet me at the new place tomorrow morning, so my cousin Joy and I are driving up very early tomorrow with my cats and all the fragile stuff to meet the movers.  We'll have just shy of a week to get my place into some semblance of order.  As long as I know where the coffee pot is, I'll be fine.

My new job at Martingale/That Patchwork Place starts in 1 week - woohoo!  I can't wait, I'm so excited!  And my knee is coming along slowly.  Stronger every day, but physical therapy at home isn't as effective as with a therapist and I have to miss 2 sessions because of the holiday and the move.  But I lucked out and found a PT place right next door to work, so I can go on my lunch breaks and keep making progress.  I've graduated from a walker to a cane, and can do alot without the cane, but still need it for uneven terrain and stairs.  It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow since the surgery, but I still have a ways to go.  Still pretty stiff and sore all the time.  Can't wait for the stitches to be healed so I can get into a pool (and a bath, ahhhh a bath!).

I haven't set up internet at the new place, so if you don't hear from me, that might be why.

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you the movers ran out of room with the first truck.  I've been teased it's because of all my fabric, heehee.  No worries though - all the fabric and sewing stuff made it on the first truck.  The 2nd truck will follow in a week, but ACKK!  my sewing table didn't make it!  Guess it'll be a folding table for a few days.  hahaha.

Hi Karen,   I am so glad you are doing well after your surgery.  I did have computer trouble and didn't realize you were going to have it.  I hope you still had coverage!!!  I have had both done my first being

as good as it can be.  Sixteen years and it is now in need of another top up.  I am so glad you got a

job and am saying a little pray for you that it will work out well.  I was glad you didn't sell your house.  you would never find another like it.  You have done a fair bit of quilting this spring.

I also wanted to mention that swimming is great for the knee - walking in the water and not on it;

Good to hear from you.  As a fellow knee-replacement quilter, my advice is to do just what you are doing -- keep up the PT!!!!  A knee surgeon once said what he does is 20% of your recovery.  The other 80% is faithfully following through on the physical therapy!  Good luck and best wishes on your move and new job.

ps.  I'm at 4 months past surgery as of this weekend and I can just now walk up and down the stairs to the upper story of the mountain house, using alternate legs and not holding on to the handrail! Yea!

Glad the knee surgery went well.  It sounds like you have everything under control regarding the move.  Hopefully the transition will go well.

Have a good move.  Good to know that first things first (fabric) is going to get there on time!

How exciting and stressful at the same time. Take a deep breath, one day at a time and think "calm thoughts" ..this, too shall pass. Good luck.

Karen, congrats on getting it all in the 2 trucks. I don't envy anyone that has to do the moving thing.  I think I would need more than 2 trucks.   I hope you continue to progress well with your knee healing and getting around without any aids.  It does take awhile.  MISS YOU!
