All right, what part of the word 'vacation' is not clear to anyone? At 7:45 am this morning I sent an e-mail to my client saying that I am taking the next 3 days off for vacation due to family reasons, and I said I would not be available at all, and if there's any emergency on their end to call my back-up engineer. So what does the client do? - send me e-mails (6 of them), calls my home phone twice, and calls my cell-phone 4 times. I have purposely taken the vacation because I need to step away from my job, before I do and say something totally unprofessional, plus I have the vacation time coming. I was tempted to tell my client that I was in jail, and see if she'd call me there too.
'nough said...

Wishing everyone a blessed and joyous Easter. Spring's around the corner, can't wait to see the leaves turn green once more. The daffodils are starting to sprout and days are getting warmer. Hallelujah!

Aida~Some people just don't understand that No means NO. Put a message on your cell and home phone that you are away and UNavailable, then turn it OFF! On your home phone, screen your calls. You can also put an out of office reply on your e-mails that will return a message that you are out of the office until a certain date. Whatever you do, don't answer her! She'll live until you get back, I promise. Enjoy your time off! You've earned it! Relax and have a Blessed Easter and enjoy your family! Hugs!

I find that cell phones and e-mail are great; however, I have to admit I resent the fact that my boss seems to think that I am on 24 hour call. I usually don't answer the phone after a certain time at night or before a certain time in the morning. I figure nothing is that urgent. I think he has gotten the message because he rarely does it anymore. Years ago, people used to make a living during M-F normal business hours. Why can they not do that now? I wonder if the economy is in a slump, at least in part for this reason. People need to take time off the recharge.

Unplug, and take care of yourself, your client not going to die unless we all get to her before you.

Turn off the cell and if you don't have it - get caller ID. Everyone needs time for themselves. I wonder how the client would feel if you repeated their favor when they were on vacation. hmmmmmm

You will have to post a sign on your back that says I'M ON VACTION. If they can't hear what you say maybe they can read it. lol

Some people just don't get it. Glad you're taking care of yourself before you do something unprofessional! We've all been there.

Enjoy your vacation - and ignore the selfish clients who want to bug you, how rude! Happy Easter and I hope you have a great long weekend.
