Ok so my day didn't start out so great. Got up and made it to work on auto pilot just as I always do. Checked in collected stock for my little box on the corner fuel station. Arrived at box and unlocked door admiring the fact that I am no longer going to work in the dark. Enter said box and forgot to turn the alarm off. Now there is an eye opener for you. WHY, and I repeat Why would security put the alarm siren on the inside of the building especially in a 15 by 20 foot room. Do you have any idea how loud that is??? The girl who goes out with me to do the "office" (she counts down the till and prepares the deposit for pick up) dropped everything and I mean everything including rolled coins that we spent ten minutes picking up after they broke open. This was followed by the making of the morning coffee. We sell four different flavors. This morning I forgot in the maylay of misdoings to switch out the air pots and coffee went every where. Now that in my book is a crime punishable by death. I live for my coffee, lattes and mochas. So after opening 20 minutes late, no one noticed. Who else gets up at 5:30 am on a saturday??? I got organized and so began the stampede. I forgot it was the first of the month when everyone gets paid. Not a problem, I have consumed at least three large cups of coffee and I am semi concious mode as the customers filter in and gas up on everything but gas for their cars. It was at this point when the customers were lined up back to the door and beyond that the familar faces showed up that normally I only see on the weekdays. Why? One of them actually had to remind me that I was going on vacation next week. At this point I look at the clock.... 7 hours to go and vacation time....
So for the next 5 hours I run around cleaning stocking up and dropping money, customer cards, names, it didn't matter what it was it just wasn't going smoothly. By 12:00 when my relief person arrives she is in a crappy mood. Again why??? "Because your going on vacation and I have to work with the department manager all week." FYI there are good managers and bad manager, we have the bad one. I do my best to cheer her up, I even threatened to come down and visit her during the week sence the trip to Bora Bora was cancelled. That only got a mild smile out of her. I run into the main store to print the managers papers for next week sence she can't figure it out and started to clock out when I see that I forgot the main reason for printing. Run back up stairs and print papers and find store manager at time clock. I tried to tell him about the conversation we had where he promised to pay me double time for my vacation but he wasn't going for it. At this point my phone goes off and another manager from another store is calling to see if I can work at their store, NO I am on vacation!!!! My store manager is laughing as I run out the building to my car. This had better not be an omen of how my vacation week is going to be.
