Quilt With Us

This may seem like a silly question for me to ask, but since I am new to quilting I'm sure it won't be the last one I ask. I have found a quilt pattern that is 45x45. I would like to make it for a king size bed which is obviously much larger. How do I go about altering the pattern? Thanks!

I don't have any suggestions for you, but wanted you to know we must be soul sisters. I can't seem to help myself from finding a pattern and then "tweaking" it some way. It either isn't the right size, or it needs a different border, etc. Best wishes on this project. Hope it turns out great.

Karen:
I think a king is 100x92 but double check that. With those measurements, here an idea.
Make 4 of the table toppers. Lay them on the king mattress and space them so that it's pleasing to the eye. Then measure the distances between toppers. Cut your strips to sash the toppers 1/2" larger than your measurments. Then, using the same fabric from the sashing, measure the drop on your mattress to box springs or floor and cut your drop (outer border) 1/2" larger than you need. Your local quilt shop should be able to help you with fabric requirements if you were to take them a drawing with the measurments. This would be the easiest way to take a table topper and make a king comfortor. It would be easy to purchase the topper x 4 and follow pattern instuctions. It gets a lot more difficult when you start changing the blocks and strip dimentions. This is only a thought. Good luck with whatever method you use. ps: just thought of something else-take elements out of the topper and make some pillow shams

Actually it is the Nana's Garden Table Topper in the new CT catalogue. It would be perfect as a quilt for one of my suites at the B&B.
