It is snowing here this a.m. but I have seen it much worse. We are getting high winds coming in from the ocean thats swirling the snow everywhere. Winds are predicted to be 65 mph. With the direction of the wind coming in from the East it's blowing the snow off our deck and much of the door yard so that's good. It makes taking the dog out easier. She put a smile on my face when she went out this morning and romped and run with her face to the wind. We are expecting the storm to be gone by 8:00 p.m. today. I don't mind the snow but another storm packing rain is on the heels of this storm. It usually comes in the form of freezing rain making every thing an ice slick. This is a great day to hunker down to the sewing machine and have some fun. At least up til the power goes out. With these winds it's likely we will lose power before the day is done. And in that case I'll have to either cut fabric for other projects or do some cleaning. Which do you think I'll choose.

Comment by Irene Gallway on February 9, 2013 at 11:42am So far no power loss so am enjoying the day sewing. The wind seems to be subsiding and I don't think we have gotten more then 6-8 inches all day. The plow has only gone by twice and I think that was to plow back the drifts from the side of the road.
Comment by Barbara Graham on February 9, 2013 at 10:51am I want all of you quilters in the storm to take care. Jennie, stop shoveling for a while. Stay warm and don't lose power. We've got light snow (so far) and are waiting to see if more will blow up from the south. Wackadoodle weather.
Comment by Mary, Tewksbury MA on February 9, 2013 at 10:14am Pitbull across the street is totally baffled by this white stuff! He's still a pup and has been running and rolling in the snow all day. Makes me laugh to watch him.
We got about 2 feet dry powdery, easy to move but no where to toss it. Sun came out about 12:30 and everything looks so pretty.
Hope you don't lose power, hate to think you'd have to spend the day cleaning!
Comment by Pam/NY on February 9, 2013 at 9:56am Oh Jennie not good...take it slow with all that shoveling...there will be lots of sore muscles! The blizzard of 66 is famous around here...my hubby said they jumped out of the second story window to get to the front door to shovel it open!!!! Drifting is the enemy...
Comment by Jennie Steward on February 9, 2013 at 9:15am Was thinking of you this morning as I shoveled out from under the storm that is now reaching you. Here in the Hamptons we got 24 inches so prepare yourself! I know you folks in Maine are used to heavy snowfall, but it is still a pain. The wind blows all the snow onto my two porches and against my doors so I had about 4 ft. to shovel off them once I got out. That in itself was a struggle this morning. Have you ever had to push your doors open against all that snow just to get out enough to shovel? It is a workout believe you me. Hope the storm is kinder to you than it was to us. I hear parts of CT and Massachusetts got over 30 in. so far and it is still snowing there. I never lost my power and here's hoping you don 't either. Stay well and take care on the ice.
Glad to hear from you and know you are OK. Stay warm.....hope your electricity stays on so you can enjoy some sewing time!
Comment by B J Elder/WA on February 9, 2013 at 7:46am Glad you are doing fine and that you will be cleaning today ... that is, cleaning your fabric edges with your rotary cutter as you get new projects ready to go! I hope the freezing rain doesn't happen, it can be treacherous!
Comment by Pam/NY on February 9, 2013 at 5:44am We got about 7 inches...was a non event for this part of the country. It's sunny today and I see dust bunnies everywhere! Will hit the sewing room after I put some meatballs in the oven! Glad you're okay...those winds sound awful....
