This quilt was modified from a lap quilt to a queen. Started with CT's pattern "Cabin Life" (I believe) and their flannels from that time. I'd ordered extra fabric at the time, knowing I planned to make it larger. I'd put together the original size back when I first got the pattern/fabric, but hadn't gotten around to finishing it. I wanted to gift this for a wedding quilt, so a couple of weeks ago, I pulled it out and started working on it again.
It reminds me of a Pendleton Hudson Bay blanket, and I really like how it turned out. The back was pieced with more chunks of CT's flannel, but I didn't get a picture of the back. It finished 90 x 96. Cotton batt. Machine quilted on my domestic machine - very simply. It pretty much used up all of the flannel from this line - in fact, I ran short of the background fabric - even after piecing every little bit of it together that I could find - and had to substitute a close-but-not-exact match in 2 places. Regardless, the couple loved it, which makes my heart smile. It was finished the day before we left for the wedding.

Thanks, Irene and Shannon! I was relieved to have it done in time, which is sometimes a challenge for me. hahaha! (procrastination is sometimes my middle name.)
it is gorgeous and guaranteed to be warm and cozy. great work pq! xoxo
I also thought of the Hudson Bay blankets when I first looked at it. It is beautiful and I'm sure the young couple will enjoy it for years to come.
Barb, it was a hard one to part with, but the older I get, the easier it is to hold things with a looser hand. My son said that if the couple didn't like it, he'd take it off their hands. I don't make wedding quilts for just anyone - this was made for a very special couple.
Beautiful! Hudson Bay blanket quilt, for sure. Nice quilting, too. I agree with you on washing after you're finished does hide a few things that you see, but no one else would pick up on. I do the same. It might have been hard to part with that quilt, being so beautiful. What a lucky couple!
Thanks. This is why I love you guys. You are all very kind and encouraging, and I appreciate it. You celebrate the finishes and look past the imperfections. You all make my heart smile, too.
Wow...it does look like a Hudson blanket!!! Holy cow (ranch talk) that was done on a domestic machine! You are getting scary talented!!!
I love it. It reminds me of one of those blankets too. Huge kudos to you for quilting it yourself.
Very well done and it's beautiful.
Looks great!
