Quilt With Us

Well I see my last post was in Sept. I finished a paper pieced wall hanging that was quite difficult that I gave to my daughter.

I finished off my cuddle quilt for one of my grand daughters for xmas then I did extra large bed runners (log cabin) for twin beds with matching pillows, Today I finally finished one of them and will start to quilt the second one tomorrow. This was my first real attempt at machine quilting and I trust my skill will improve. I also made some cute xmas coasters. In the next day or so I will try try to get photos to post.

Next on my agenda is forming a sewing circle at my church to provide quilts and other small items to low income families in our area. The ideas are flowing and I took advantage of the connecting threads web site to order some sale fabric. Now I'm praying for other sources as my own personal stash is disappearing fast.

I recently joined the Quilt Guild so that should be fun and I hope to get back to my  "Related to Jane"...perhaps I can set aside one day a week at least for her.

Ann, you've gotten a lot accomplished in a short time.  Best wishes for the sewing circle at church.  What a great idea to encourage fellowship and helping others.

Wow you have been busy.  Put the word out in your church congregation - Sunday bulletin, newsletter, posters, etc.  You will be surprised at what people have in totes in closets that they will be thrilled to pass along if they know it's for a good cause.  Often, too, people who would like to be involved but can't because of time, health, etc.  are more than willing to make a cash donation with which you could buy fabric.  It lets them be involved and doesn't financially put the burden on a small group.  Good luck!

Ann, BJ reminded me that JoAnn fabrics gives a 10% discount for volunteer supplies...talk with the manager.

You've been busy, doing wonderful things. The sewing circle at church will be great. I'm sure if you put a call out people will have fabric to donate. You may even check with local shops, telling them what you are doing.
