Quilt With Us

Do you ever wonder what your family would do without you? I'm not even gone a full 12 hours and I've got a honey do list. I'm sitting at supper when my cell phone rings. It's my next door neighbor, apparently no one is answering our door bell at the house so he calls me. One of our trees has decided to die and in the process took out a car, our new to us old truck and just missed the new to us old camper. DH is probably still sleeping as it is only 530 pm and he doesn't leave for work until 7:30 pm. Tell the neighbor to open the door and shout, someone will come. From over 1000 miles away done my part, right? Not. DH calls hour later, yep have to have the tree taken down, call the insurance, DD will send me pictures so I can see the damage. Should do the insurance first in case a adjuster has to come look, oh and by the way I'm on my way to work so you have to take care of it all in the morning. Again from 1000 miles away. Who would do it if I was gone permanently?

I guess it's nice to be needed, but I know, there are days!

Christi, sorry you have to deal with all this while you are a 1000 miles away. Hope it goes smoothly and not something you have to keep worrying about the whole time you are away. You are right - they cannot live without us but some days I would sure like to give him a chance (ha).

You just can't leave, permanently!

Turning off the phone sounds so good--in theory. But in practice, the what-ifs always get me. They say no one is indispensable, but I'm not sure that is sure about most of the wives/mothers i know.

Oh man. Those crises only seem to happen when one or the other is away. How aggravating!

Around here, the bulls never get out until DH is away from home. I think they have a sixth sense about that...

Hmmmm.... I think you need to turn your cell phone off - LOL. Isn't it nice, though, to know we are needed? Well, at least most of the time.
