Quilt With Us

Well good evening or morning, depending on when you read this. This is the first time I think I can honestly say that I lost myself in my quilt. I was up early again today on my day off and after having my coffee break and a chat with the other half who is still out on the road, I started to work on my nieces quilt for her daughter. I have had all the patchwork blocks finished and the alternating block I repeated a portion of the patchwork design and stitched that into the plain blocks. I had three more to make today and finished those before noon. I laid the design out on the bed and admired my handy work. The BF called and talked and talked and talked some more, over an hour while he was driving. Yes he does have the blue tooth thing, so it was easy for him to chat away while I sat and listened. So out of desperation to get off the phone, I informed him that I really wanted to get the quilt top done before he gets home tomorrow, wednesday, or I would be working on it after I got home from work. (Works every time.) He got off the phone and I started sewing the blocks together. Noon suddenly became 3:30. The next thing I knew it was 7:30 and I hadn't stopped to eat dinner. I have gotten the 5 X 5 rows of blocks together and added all but one last border row. I stopped to admire my work and decided that I was tired. Not bad for a days worth of work. I don't think that he'll be too upset when I cut and piece the last border row on the quilt, after all he is getting a new laptop computer to go on the truck with him and that should keep him busy long enouogh for me to finish the quilt top. If I succeed in my mission I will have a picture to post tomorrow. It's that or he will post a picture of me in a noose for touching material while he is home. (He's been on the road for three weeks).

Yes, looking forward to seeing those pictures, Kathy. Don't forget to take time for him when he gets home though.

I know the feeling -- when you get on a roll you don't want to stop. Can't wait to see the quilt!

Glad you enjoyed your quilting time. My DH just spent yesterday in the garage while I kept the kids busy ( he's on holidays ) so I just told him I wanted to spend some time in my sewing room and got a "look". What's good for the goose.....

I think maybe you are going to get the hang of this yet. Men have to have their way and then you have to stop for them if they want anything. Good luck with finishing up the top.

Men! They are all the same, want your undivided attention when they are around. That is unless they have something they want to do by themselves with out us. Fishing? Nope won't get a "What again?" out of my mouth, it is usually "How soon do you leave?'
I work at a car aution where we have many car hauler truckers come in and my brother is a long distance trucker so I know how much many of these guys miss the familly on the road. My DH only works shift hours and he is spoiled, if he was gone on a regular basis it would be even more when he got home.
