Quilt With Us

The baby for which this quilt top is made is now 6 days overdue.  If I hurry, I might be able to finish it before he arrives!

It is made of western fabrics - browns, oranges, and blues, according to momma's preference.  It will finish at roughly 42 x 50.  The delectable mountains half-blocks are 4.5 x 6 finished.  I'll just machine quilt this one as simply as possible.  I haven't pieced a back yet.  The setting reminds me of woven saddle blankets, and that's the look I was going for.  The farther away from it you stand, the more the pattern shows up (the better it looks).  A few of my neutrals look a little dark to me in pictures, but I really like it overall.

Thanks, handstitcher.  Baby's momma and I reupholstered her husband's great-grandmother's rocking chair (a spring rocker in the ranch oak style) in a tan microfiber (looks like suede).  The bones were great, but the fabric and padding were in really bad shape.  I have a good resource for advice on upholstering furniture.   She was tickled with the chair when we finished it and so was her husband.

I do have fabric, but very, very little yardage.   For a time a friend dubbed me the "fat quarter queen" and I'm just taking it on faith that she meant my fabric stash...

Perfect quilt for a western baby! I’m sure he and his mama will love it. Your stash shopping yields great finds for you to make these awesome quilts. Must have been an impressive stash to begin with!

Thanks, everyone.  I really enjoyed this one.  I always like those western fabrics, and the colors were fun, too.  I think they "play" well together.  And I'm still using up fabrics.  The only piece left from the border print is a 3.5" x about 20".

It is great.  I'm sure the new mama will be happy when the little cowboy finally makes his appearance.

I know what you mean!  I just finished a design with points going every which way, and it was "rip, rip, rip!"

Thanks, Carol Ann.  It was a fun one to work on, but making sure the blocks were going the right way close up when I was laying it out nearly made me cross-eyed!  It would have been easier if I'd had someone standing away from it and telling me which way to turn the blocks!  :)
