Greeting from Maine Doreen....Have a wonderful birthday celebration today...I looked at all the bags you have made...wonderful!! I have made a few ...this Christmas made a 'Sassy Purse' for 3 of the relatives and they loved them....it has an interchangeable handle...I also have a couple myself...working on a quilt for a friend with cancer....finishing the binding...and a couple of projects for our quilt group......have fun today!!!Blessings in the New Year!!
Thanks for the compliment on the tote bags. My daughter will be giving them as gifts to her daughter's teachers. She is a teacher too and always says she wants to give a gift she'd like to have given to her. Seems like most teacher gifts are "World's best teacher" coffee mugs and ornaments and you can only use so many of them LOL! Hope they like the bags.

Hi thanks Doreen for looking at my baskets. No I don't sell them. They are ones I have made for myself over the years. Just thought it would be fun to show them off. And yes it is nice to get a project done in a few hours instead of weeks or months. But I still enjoy seeing my quilts come together. Some days wish there were more hours in the day to get more done!
The challenge is out, lets see how many of us can join the wonderful new campaign called Stitching for Pink !!! Starts today until 30 October. Its gonna be so much fun with 10 projects to complete. Come on Embroiderers lets unite and join the fight against Breast Cancer !!!
Hi Doreen,
Thank you for the comments on my tote picture they were a lot of fun to put together... I hope to be making more for giftys soon, I've had lots of compliments on them. My husband's family Wilkins/Metcalf were from parts of Maine around Sebago Lake. I always think is kind of neat to find out where others are from, not that we'd be related, just that the name is what you have in common. Having a Sister with the name Marcia, on the other hand is just pure luck! LOL... if she's left handed that would also be a bit werid! LOL! Have a great day, Marcia
Hi Doreen- Yep, that grandson is pretty special! (He's our first grandchild!)
BTW-You are quite the "Bag Lady"! I'm impressed!
Hey- I too am a second grade teacher! Even though I could retire this year...it's not going to happen. DH and I rely on the insurance policy that I get through my school. After 33 years of teaching, I still enjoy doing it! And it will be 34 years of "wedded bliss" for my DH and I in mid-June this year!
It appears we have some things in common, Doreen! :-)
Morning Doreen! Just placed my order last night and can't wait to see all the patterns in person. I have a question for you...do you sell your totes...or give to friends? Just wondering...could see myself getting hooked making them and then have a closet full! lol...thanks again for the information! Have a great day!
Hi Doreen! Immediately went to 'www.lovethefabric.com' and have three items in my shopping cart! Thank you! As for finding your photos, the first thing I do when I hit Quilt With Us is to see all the newest photos...when you upload photos to your page it automatically lists them on the overall photo page. I cruise through those for inspiration and when 'inspired' head to that person's home page to see all their goodies! Thanks for inspiring me!
Thanks, Doreen! It's been a lot of fun picking the colors for this quilt. It's going to have black sashing, so I went with brights and it's going well.
Thanks Doreen! The purse with the zipper closure and credit card pockets is from a pattern called "Got Pockets?" from Pat-e-Patterns.com. I really like the purse and I'm using it but I'm not thrilled with how the top came out. The pattern had awful directions - especially the zipper closure. I ripped it out 3 times I think and then decided to wing it as I could not make any sense of their instructions. I emailed the company and they told me they are aware of the problem and are in the midst of a revision and they promised to send me a revised pattern as soon as it's available so I hope it's better.
Hi Doreen, Sorry to read of your Dad's passing, had a not from Borderline telling that. I am so glad we got to chat at quilt camp, he sure is better off, being in the state his body had gotten to, but you still miss him. Been there.... Where is your camp I can't rember, seems like around Russell area. We need to get together for a visit when you are in camp. Hope and pray your Mom will be better now she only has to take care of herself and not somany worries on hermind. Keep in touch, it was nice to see you one here, I had forgotten I had signed on a few years ago. Don't know how to use this site, but will get here and check it out more often that is is fresh on my mind. Audrey
Hi Doreen, I just got home from a quilting retreat at Wadham's all weekend. What a wonderful sharing quilting with so many friends. I had forgotten I had singed into this web, so was surprised to receive so many Happy Birthday wishes from ladies I don't even know. Then I saw your name, what a pleasant surprise, I didn't hink I'd see a name I knew. how is your Mom and Dad doing now. Audrey

thanks for the compliment on my braid bag. It is a pattern by Whistlepig Creek Productions - it is:
#1167 Vive La Tote Bag
It is made mostly with 2 1/2 inch strips. You can order their patterns on their website:
www.wpcreek.com
As you can tell from my pictures I love making bags!!
Thanks again!
Thanks for the birthday salutations. It was a great day spent with family.
Ottawa is a fair ways east from my hometown, about a 9 hour drive.
