No, I haven't finished the French Braid. We are hosting at a state park in Oregon right now and are getting ready for a big 150th statehood celebration here. So the sewing has been set aside for a few days except for the pennants I am helping the staff make. But I am collecting fabric for two quilts I hope to get started in March as well as finish the French Braid. Gets kind of crowded here at times but hasn't slowed me down much.

Hi Grace, i am working on a table runner called Seminole table runner by Atkinson Designs. I am going to try and machine quilt it. we'll see how that goes. i also have a flannel comforter, i am tying for my dad. the pattern is called Magic Nine Patch. it is really easy and turns out nice. the colors are browns , greens and a little dark red almost a burgandy. i'll have to take a picture. i am slow though because i get distracted easily. haha.
the table runner top turned out nice though. i am really pleased with that. now for the hard part. :)

That is how i want to start is a patch and grow some potatoes in it. i don't really have a favorite color, i them all but i do kinda gravitate towards flower patterns so i have to watch that. i like when the colors are in a group to pick from that makes is easy.

I thought you were psychic! I'm going to try and post a picture by my digital camera is missing it's cable. I'll have to try and find it. I bet you're going to love your new kitchen. It's so nice to have everything new. Kitchens take such a beating. You'll start quilting again. I take breaks and I'm actually better when I get back to it. I hate having UFO's. I try to get projects done but other things get in the way. My daughter goes back to college Sunday and I will surely miss her. I think she's had it with being home. It's not as exciting as a dorm!

Grace, how did you ever know that I already finished my baby quilt top??!! It's for a boy but I tried to make it neutral. There's quite a bit of green and yellow but also some aqua. I never trust ultrasounds! It finished at about 42" by 54". It's actually a nice size. I also hope to make a teddy bear to go along with it from the leftover fabric. I have to get the backing ready now for the quilt and then machine quilt it. My mom's first car when I was little was a Chevy Nova. I miss that car! How's your quilting going?? How's the car project going?

Eventful day! We cleared our back yard so they can deliver our 20 ft. storage trailers tomarrow. Also helped hubby unload a truck of railroad ties and fencing. Getting ready to put in a raised garden area. 20'x30'. Will share with Diane next door and my youngest and his family! Makes the effort worth while. So-there goes quilting for a day or two-have to dig in my stash for some border fabric-maybe this eve altho I ready for my snuggies!
It did get up to 60 degrees today but did get sprinkled on earlier and more tonite. Need the moisture as we are desert here!
Love Canada altho now that I'm spoiled with winters here!!! When I was a kid we had harvesters come down and help combine the grain on my parent's farm!We made lots of friends with thoes good looking hands!! I had three younger sisters and they always kept the pot stirred!!!

Good Morning! Will try this again! To much going on!! Not easy to be a female with all the male influence!! Tried to get them all cooking and sewing too!! Their women love it!!!
Don't get excited with politics. News media forgets Obama is the son of a white woman. I do wish him strength and courage! The next 4 will be interesting!!
I'm trying to get to a horse quilt for our 11 yr old grand girl, Becky. Trying to get Christmas packed and put away first! Painting bird houses with our Grand girl Gwen last weekend, and keeping up with the zoo we have acquired.
Tomarrow we will work at some more moving! Started relocating in March,08 and hope to finish by March 09. Sold our home and spent 8 years helping aging parents thru lung cancer and alzheimers. Now back to getting settled in our home in Apple Valley! Will be nice to have everything back in one spot!!!!

Wayne Gretzky! I don't follow sports alot, you'd think I would with 5 boys and all their friends but seems two were into baseball and the rest horses, But, his name certainly was familiar! My girlfriend had to laugh when I told her-reminded me I had met him in Anaheim, CA, with her and friends, years ago!

Hi Grace,
Thanks for commenting on my intro. I will be 50 this week and work in a nursing home. I work 12 hour shifts and feel like I never have time to sew. they are over night shifts as well.
Lasagna gardening is layered gardening. You can google it and there is a book out on it. It is suppose to be alot easier on the back ,no digging.
I went fabric shopping this week to try and find matches to some fabric that i didn't buy enough of or something that would sub for the fabric's i don't have enough of. Went to some different shops that were out of town, kinda did my own little shop hop.:) Didn't spend to much but found a couple of patterns for table runners that i liked and one of the fabrics i was looking for. Hope you have a great week adn Happy sewing.

This is the second French braid. The first was shades of pink and black. This one is mostly golds and greens with my base fabric a paisley. No, I won't even attempt to quilt it myself. I want to learn how to hand quilt but this one is too big. I have a red, white and blue one done but I need to fix the backing. That one I may try to do myself.

We love the area around Edmonton. We were up there 3 years ago doing the ice fields, Jasper and Edmonton. How long have you been quilting? I took a class 3 years ago and got hooked. Have always sewn. Married for 28 years to Mel, 2 grown sons, 6 grandchildren. Mel has a son and daughter with 7 between them. I love the names of your cats.

So what is your new project? I'm working on a crazy quilt that I am making out of t-shirts. We have some friends who lost their daughter a couple of years ago so I entered the picture. This has been a challenge let me tell you. I also have a French braid quilt I have working on. I goofed on one of the center squares (it's 1/4" too big) so have to rip two rows out to fix it and I just can't get motivated to do it. I've also signed up to take a machine quilting class so that I can at least use my sewing machine for small projects.

We are hosting at Visitor Center at Champoeg State Park in Oregon. We've had 18" of snow, floods, trees down, high winds, you name it. But we aren't suffering like they are in the Midwest. But I get to sit down and sew at least one day a week and it takes a long time sometimes to get something finished.

Grace, I'm the same way! I try to keep from starting new projects but sometimes it's beyond my control. I do love to work on different things but I also like to complete projects so it's hard to balance the two. But I'm glad you got a new project. Sometimes, you just have to give in and make it. I also have days I can't get to my quilting. Too many other things get in the way but that's what makes it so fun. It's always something to look forward to!

Hi Grace, + 2 here today, was beautiful. I finished machine quilting a disappearing nine patch comfort quilt for the guild this afternoon. I will put the binding on it tomorrow and have it ready for the meeting on tuesday. I was in Archerwill last week, going to Saskatoon this week with friend who has a medical appointment. I haven't touched the thimbleberry bom that I started for my daughter. It was supposed to be done for christmas. I hope to have the last two borders done on it within the next week or so. There are so many interesting projects that I want to start, but must finish something first. I am also working on a mystery quilt, still have 5 parts left to do on it. More to do than I have years left to live. I don't think there will ever be anything I don't want to try. Too many projects, so little time. I retired from restaurant business 4 years ago. I bake for local coffee shop, and for the general public. Never seem to be enough hours in the day. Hubby plans to retire, but would like to work for at least 5 more years, so there will be no big trips for us in the near future. I will be going to Ab with a friend in april. My youngest daughter lives in Lacombe. Well my friend, my bed is calling me. hope to hear from you soon, Robin

Hi Grace! Sunny Apple Valley got graced with 8inches and a gal from South Dakota that I am, I enjoyed every minute of it as I knew it would only last a few days. Only happens once in 4or5 yrs.
We have 3 birds, Lucky, cocatiel, Screech a Senagal and Charlie is Amazon Grey with a nonstop vocab. Shadow, Cookie & Micky are German Shepherds in their older years and then there is kitten, Gizmo and old lady cat, Chirp!
I have sewn since I was 6yrs. old but never have enough time to go to classes since my hubby got hurt 9 years ago, I need to stay close so this sounded like a great way to share and get good advice at any hour of the nite or day!!! I'm looking foreward to a new project which I will dedicate to my oldest son who is leaving for his third tour in Iraq in February!
My husband has 3 sons and I have 2. They are all grown and we are blessed with 5 grand girls and 1 grand boy! Only one lives close and spends time. Gwen at 9 is a charm and loves all the animals and is ready to do art and crafts anytime!!
Thank you for asking!!!

I just had to tell you that I started that baby quilt for my co-worker today. I think it's going to be done very fast. It's so nice to get back to my sewing machine instead of always doing my hand work. Everything gets done quicker and it's so satisfying! Hope you're keeping warm!
