Morning Cindy, We are in the same boat! I wish it would sail bye already, I need to get off!! Yes, I went thru the change and it really think that's when I started to put the weight on. I did go downstairs and walk 2 miles this morning. I wish I could walk outside but we're having an ice/snow storm. The day will come when I can walk outside again. I'm really downing the water. I would love to work with you on your daughter's quilt! Wow - tackling a double wedding ring is ambitious on your part! Here is an idea how I charge: for an edge-to-edge pattern .015 cents per square inch - for custom it is .02 cents, or maybe more if you want dense quilting. So, if you want something simple in the centers, and some leaves, etc in the borders, it would be the .02 price. If you want something more special, or feathers with outlining, defined borders, etc., it would be more like .03 cents. (measure length and width and multiply those two numbers, the answer you get for that is multiplied by the price. There is also tax here in Iowa on services, and I'd ask you to pay return shipping.) If you want to send your own batting, anything but Mountain Mist is fine, and I have quilter's dream cotton or poly. Please square up your back, and have it be at least 4" wider and longer than your top, so I can attach it to the machine. Did I answer your questions? Lisa
Hi Cindy, I got information from my sister. She belongs to a guild called Quilters by the Sea in Portsmouth. They have a web site which you can google. She says there is a guild nearer to you but she has heard that they are a bit "snooty" (her words). Her group is VERY friendly and welcoming. They meet on the first Thursday of the month from Sept. to June. Hope you find this information helpful.
Hi Cindy. I love your quilts. Where are you in RI? My sister lives in Jamestown and belongs to a guild somewhere near there. She is what I like to term a quilt artist. She says she just loves to quilt.
Cindy, I love your quilts. It's so much fun to look at everyone's quilt pictures. I'm from MA so I know all about the snow. I think winter should already be over! It's been too much so far! I love RI, my brother went to school in Providence.
Hi Cindy: congrats on getting your pictures posted. I too, had to wait on my son to help do this stuff, but I think I have finally masterd it. I see that you are doing a Double Wedding Ring. I completed one several years ago for my Brother's wedding gift. He finally received it on his 5th anniversary LOL.
Very nice quilt. I love the color choice. Pinwheels have always been at the top of my love list. The quilt looks so clean.
You think it's cold there. Come to Michigan. 6 below for the last three day. We have so much snow that I can't stand much more.
I live in South Kingstown. This is a first for me commenting to someone on a blog (I don't even know what a blog is!). I am 55 and have been quilting for about 14 years. I have two daughters also --19 and 15. Do you belong to NBQA? I belong to Ninnigret in the southern part of the state! Just came back from our monthly meeting. We are making ATC's (artist's trading cards). They are sort of cool. You are the second one to tell me to go ahead and try the stars. I just might (like I need to start another project. My last year's resolution was to finish one UFO a month and I did it. I need to have the same resolution this year!)
Nice to meet you.
I'm so glad you found our little website. This is new to all of us, and I must say I'm having a great time meeting so many of you wonderful quilters!
About the "posted by" question you asked me. Even though after you are done writing you comments it says "posted by me" on your computer, to everyone else, it will have your screen name listed. I hope this helps!
