Hi Debbie, How are things going in your life. I hope all is well with you, your business, family members and life in general. I miss the old gang on QWU. Bud and I moved to a retirement complex July of 2015. He was only here a couple of months when he had to go back to the nursing home. He came back and was put in an Assisted Living home but is now back in the nursing home.
I love my apartment. It's a two bedroom so I took the larger room for my sewing room. Haven't taken any pictures yet. Still haven't made my kitchen curtains. When I get those done I will be posting pictures. With Bud moving back and forth and me having to move his stuff and sewing for the public and attending a lot of events that take place here in the complex I keep very busy. I love living alone. I eat when I feel like it, not when the clock says it's time. And I have a better social life with friends. And the apartment stays clean so I have lots of time to enjoy doing what I want to. Sounds selfish, but I have spent many years taking care of people and I'm enjoying being selfish now. I do cook and take meals to my sister who is not doing so well. But she is still getting out to shop and pay her bills. Things don't look good with her, so we just take one day at a time. And cherish our time together. Take Care.
Really glad to hear your doing so well with your health. Last year this time, I was in the hospital with my left leg plugged with blood clots. The leg still bothers me if I sit too long but I'm grateful to be feeling a lot better this year. Bud had two strokes in January and has been in the nursing home. He will be coming back to Calais in a month to go into assisted living. He can't do stairs and we have stairs coming into the house and the bathroom and bedrooms are on the second floor. Congratulations on the new baby girl. My first grandchild was a girl and I was over joyed. I had two boys.
It doesn't seem to want to warm up around here. We had a few days of warm weather but lately it's been quite cool. I took my sister to Bangor today to have a chemo treatment and we drove all the way over there in dense fog. It's a two hour trip one way. She had a breast off a few months ago but she still has cancer in her lung that doesn't seem to be growing. The spot on her breast didn't grow for about two years but took off like a wild fire all of a sudden and they had to take it off. Luckily it didn't spread to her lymph nodes.
So glad to hear from you and know your well and enjoying life.
Wonderful to hear from you, Debbie; thanks for responding to my message. Glad to hear your cancer scare was just that--a scare.
You sure have been busy and continue to be busy as you visit your parents. 70th anniversary---WOW!!! Enjoy your time with them.
I'm still an avid quilter; if I didn't have that, I would be very bored. Belong to a monthly group; we each do our own thing. I belong to a weekly group that makes quilts for charity; we have 65 quilt tops ready for layering and tying. Each spring we make a quilt for the local fire dept which they raffle off for a fund raiser. Otherwise I make quilts for myself and family and small gifts for friends. Next week I'm going to quilt camp Wed till Sunday.
For last 2 months our DD has kept us very busy. Dec 8 she had hysterectomy and then 2 weeks ago she had another major surgery. It's a long story so will just condense it. She had a neuroendocrine cancer removed. Likely had been there for a long time and is slow growing. Treatment is surgery; no chemo nor radiation. Just labs, scans, and doctor followup for 10 years. She likely will never have a reoccurrence and if she does, surgery again. God is good! He does answer prayer.
Congratulations on becoming a grandma. Isn't it fun? Ours are 15 and 13. They keep life lively with all their sports events. Keeps us young and gives us something to do.
We've had a reasonably mild winter. Our real cold weather has been in short spurts and we have had little snow. In fact we could use more snow; haven't even had enough to ride snowmobile so there they sit collecting dust instead of snow. Last winter was a "beast" for cold and snow.
Wish you continued good health and happiness. God bless.
Hello Debbie, how have you been? I hope all is well with your health. We are getting the tail end of "Arthur" Pouring with high winds. Suppose to move through by 4 p,m. I'm working on a sewing machine cover today. It's for myself so I'm winging it. Not sure what I will come up with for design but having fun anyway. I like having my machines covered when not in use. Keeps the dust off and it dresses up my sewing room a bit. I hope your enjoying the Summer
Thank you Debbie for browsing my pictures. That's what makes this site fun and interesting. I get motivated looking at projects that other people have made. I just came from The sewing club. Today was a UFO day where we all worked on something different. I took a table runner that I started before Christmas to work on. I will post a picture of that when I get it done.
Hi Debbie. Just wanted to let you know that the patterns arrived safely today. Thanks so much for doing this. I will bring them to the guild meeting on Tuesday and hand them out along with your business cards. I hope that some of the ladies visit your website & buy more of your lovely patterns. Big hugs to you.
I am happy to hear you are doing well! I think of you often although I haven't been on QWU in a long time, I do check in once in awhile. My DH has Lyme's and we been to so many doctors which take a lot of time. He is suffering with his knee's. That is what started the Dr. visits, knee pain, we went to an orthopedic Dr. and he found the Lyme's. Lyme's disease is from deer ticks, we are from New Jersey and it was ramped there, now it is moving all over the U.S. He is now on Sulfa drugs which should help the pain after a year, of course he never stops doing things.
Yes, Debbie, I have a new laptop that my son bought me for Christmas. My desktop crashed in August and I lost everything. I'm running 8.1. 8 was a nightmare but my friend who is a computer expert loaded the 8.1 when it came out. ( a few weeks after I got my computer) Microsoft got many calls from people who complained about Window 8. I downloaded Picasa for my pictures. I can get pictures from other sites, like FB or scanning them in but I can't up-load from my camera. I tried running the CD that came with my camera but that won't work so I have to ask Earl what I'm doing wrong. I'm sure it's human error. I am on my 3rd computer (since 2001) and it's like I'm getting my first one. I didn't have any problems with my first two but now programs that used to come with a computer you have to buy or start over with unfamiliar free ones. This old dog is learning new tricks with this computer. Just getting used to the laptop has been a challenge. The first laptop had to be taken back to the store as it wouldn't work wireless. Earl's computer worked fine with my router so back to the store we went. Then the next one the keys were sticking and I had to call him again and that had to go back. I was really leery of this one for about a month after I got it. Is it any wonder??? lol
I don't visit here as much as I used to, however I think of you quite a bit. I hope you are doing well. I had to chuckle the other day as I was cleaning out the thread wrapped around my sewing machine chair, I remembered your post of falling off your sewing chair and discovering all the thread wrapped around the wheels. With my "bone on bone" hip I really need a fall. I wish you wonderful Thanksgiving!
Nice to hear from you Debbie, You have been a very busy lady this Summer by the sounds of things. I haven't had allot of work come in this Summer and it has given me a chance to do windows and clean out closets, draws and get some sewing of my own accomplished. I made lined tab drapes for one of the bedrooms, helped my friend make a baby quilt and made some aprons. I'm working on an order for 3 pr. of lined curtains for a client. My sister is sick again. She starts chemo on the 20th. My friend from England is flying in Sunday night for a month. My friend Pam is going to Bangor with me after church on Sunday as Jenny's plane comes in at 10:45 p.m. and we are staying over night coming home on the 19th. It's a two hour trip one way. Interesting about your ancestors. We have Durgins and Goulds here in this area. The Goulds are in Princeton, the Durgins are here in Calais, and Baileyville. (all neighboring towns). I have the fabric ready to make my GGD who will arrive in Oct. a nursery layette. The pattern I'm using is Simplicity 9140. The quilt is going to be a combination of pattern ideas. I have to get cracking on this and that's when all the work will come in. I'll be taking my sister for her treatments so will have plenty of time to work on the applique`. Got to go drag out the vacuumn cleaner and get busy. Dog hairs look like tumble weeds. lol Can't keep ahead of the hair. I have had her 4 years and don't recall her shedding so much. I brush her out daily and get enough hair to cover another dog. Take Care ~ Irene
Thanks Debbie! I do hope you are doing okay still. I am sure you are!!!!! Yes, 7 years of people following me, telling me I can't do this or that... and no computer stuff. It was hard. Its taken me a while to feel that freedom feeling again. I am free and I am starting to feel my life coming back again. I am no better than when I was year 4 years ago. But..I am not any worse either. This is what makes me happy! I have so much to tell everyone. I will write everyone after my Dh goes back to work on Monday. Before I close.. I did work on quilting projects in these 4 years I had to stay away. . Yet now it feels better doing it when I can talk to my friends. Chat later and Thanks Debbie Hugs Morgan oxoxoxoxoxoxo
