I didn't know about the show in Schaumburg! I would love to go. Will you be there?
I would love to meet up with you there. If I go it will probably be on the Saturday.
Hello! It's been a while since I've been back on this website! Too long!!!
It's been a busy summer. I've been trying to catch up on the postings all day. I read a page every now and then. Exciting things have been happening...very cool.
Did you and Jo Ann ever meet for lunch? Do you want to try to set up a weekend lunch again? Just let me know. I would love to get together and do some quilt chatting!!!
Silvia
Thanks Linda! I've been thinking about making small projects to sell at craft markets etc. Nothing big right now, but retirement is not too many years away (I hope) and it would be a fun thing to supplement our income. I look forward to learning.

I am not sure that I will be able to make the Racine Show. I have finally settled on a machine and will be going to order it next Thursday. They will be having a great deal on it at the APQS Road Show in Elkhorn. I did a lot of research and that is the machine for me (Milennium). I tried a lot of machines and did a lot of research and this machine is the best fit for me. If I get the chance to go the the Racine show I will definately let you know so we can meet up. Maybe the next time I take a road trip to Cedarburg I will let you know and we can meet there. Julia
I was at the Madison show on Saturday also, spent all my time at the Longarm Machines and didn't really get to see much else. Saw just a couple of rows of the show quilts and then the few quilts that lined the hall where we came in. My hubby went with me (the engineer) needed his expert opinion (i think)LOL Seems its taking a lot longer to make a decision with his imput, but I do appreciate it. I almost wore a sticker that would have identified me as a Quilt With Us member, now I wish I would have. Have a great day and happy quilting.
Julia
Thank you very much. yes...I will be popping in to ask questions...about my quilting business I am starting on the web...... in a few days My DH is coming home in a few hours...last minute things to do before he gets home...like supper lol chat later Hugs Morgan
Quiltlady, thank you for your post.....of the rainbow and of jeff. Thank you very much. Oh yeah... I have my pot of gold, and I do not forget it. Hugs Morgan
The quilt itself was not made by me but the lady that quilts some of my quilts. The pattern is self explanatory, I have included a picture of it on the blog. Quiltsrjewels.com is where I got mine and Jewel is my quilter that owns the business. She made the orange and purple quilt. It is so much fun, Denise and I had a ball. In fact as soon as this storm passes that we're having I am on my way downstairs to work on some more squares. Happy Sunday Evening!!
Thank you so much and yes I love the dogwood blooms. The quilter suggested them as I wanted to go with some type of biblical theme and that was perfect. Have a great Holiday Weekend. Linda
My DH & I ret'd in '05. I was the grant adm for the KY Beginning Teacher Internship Program for 15 yrs. I loved my jog, never had a notion to look for anything else! I live 11 mi from the univ Murray State Univ and visit often. I also volunteer to help at the beginning of the fall semester when the internship can have more that 300 interns a yr.
I would take a personal day and go twice, i.e, Fri/Sat. I had a dear friend fly in from NY for one show about 3 yrs ago and she said she was sorry that she never came before. This friend visits 2-3x a yr but never during the quilt show in Paducah. She's still working so has to put in for the time off yet.
I sincerely hope you get to go to the 2010 show. If you do, email me and possibly we could meet up. Wouldn't that be something! Have a good week.
Hello! I live about 45 min from Paducah KY where the AQS April show is held. I've been attending for about 18 yrs. It has been wonderful! I also attend the AQS in Nashville TN one year and it wasn't anything like the one in Paducah. Yes, it was a good show but there is something about the Paducah one that is special. There is electric in the air! Also the AQS Museum is located in Paducah too. There are a lot of vendors, displays, books, notions, anything you can imagine. Classes are offered. People demonstrating the biggie companies showing off their wares, it's fun, exciting and you need to wear good walking shoes and comfy clothes. LOL I usuall go with DH or with one or two good friends, we never get to see everything but living this close we go back a second day. Where in Iowa is it being held? I've got a bro in Morton Grove, IL and one is Omaha, if it's in Iowa between them, I can get "free" accommodations that come with being family. Just kidding. Let me know where and when, I'd be interested myself.
Hi QuiltLady,
I know I've been a little under the weather because of the weather. It's so hot, I can't wait until the end of September. A/C is not even blowing out cool air. I missed a couple of days but I'm all read up now and I even replied to your question about time management and left overs. I shared what I do during the winter months instead of take out. I haven't picked up a quilt since May, waiting for it to get cooler, then I'll be cooking, so to speak. You take care too and thanks for being concerned. Quilt Onnnnnnnnnnn!!!
We have one quilt shop in Manitowoc "Quilts n Silks" not real big but lots of fabric and the ladies are great there. If you travel up this way again there are two quilt shops in Cedarburg that are pretty nice "Ye Old Quilt Shop" and "Material Matters" .
www.material-matters.com, www.yeoldeschoolhouse.com. There is also a great quilt shop in Green Bay it is huge, it is called Quilters Connection...I could spend hours in there. Any ways if you get up here again give me a call and maybe we can connect. Just email me when you are going to be heading this way and I will give you my phone number.
Happy Quilting,
Julia
Dear QuiltLady, you are so welcome. I could tell how tired you were by your words, imagine if I had actually talked to you. I've been reading everything you write and I know how much work you're put into this and I almost got tired. Yes, I do get encourgament from reading what you're doing and others. I'm just not ready to go that path yet and I do get overwhelmed too of all that has to be done to start a business. But if one of us is successful then I feel the rest of us has a chance so I will encourage and push you and others to do all that is neccessary. Until you are successful, Quilt Onnnnnnnnnn!!!
The storage by my frame is a slot wall system where you can add hooks and stuff to. I love it I can hang all my rulers there and other stuff . You can find it at any home improvement store.
I live in Saint Nazianz WI which is about 15 min west of Manitowoc which is on the Lake Michigan shore between Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Happy Quilting Julia
Hi, You are most welcome. It's great that you get inspiration just when it's needed at the start of your business. And, thank you for your kind comments about my quilts. I was thinking about selling some of my quilts but it's the money thing where I could not charge what they are worth, but giving them away to friends and friends of friends really pleases me, especially when they come back and tell me how visitors to their homes liked them. It makes me smile. I will probably have to sell them someday when I run out of room to store them. So good luck this week meeting with the merchant. Quilt on
I appreciate your comments very much about this memorial quilt situation.
It will be difficult to do, but it is not going to make me feel worse and really I was glad I thought of a way to not just get rid of everything or just store a lot of his clothes.
I like your suggestion of a simple pattern, your mom had the right idea.
Thank you:)
