Sorry I am so late getting back but Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a great day. Was in Halifax, Nova Scotia for a bit of a holiday and really enjoyed it. Didn't find a quilt shop there tho. Was nice to see all the wishes waiting for me when I got home.

Hi Jeannie: Thanks for the news about your school and class. Hope studies are going well this week. My DH and I just returned from a 5-day trip to northern CA visiting step-daughter and family, including 2 young grandchildren. Lots of laughter. Teacher meetings start tomorrow. Still have a few hours left of quilting before reality sets in. Happy quilting!
Gosh I miss this place! I seriously didn't realize how much I had come to depend upon your comments until I went back to work and can't check in so often! I'm quiet...so you won't hear from me often. But, I'm there! This is an awesome community!
Welcome back to school. I teach 3rd grade in Los Angeles, and will be returning next week to set up my classroom. Students return on Sept. 9. We are a predominately Spanish speaking, Title 1 school which can be challenging for me at times because I don't speak Spanish. My students and I communicate fine, but I need translators for parent conferences which can be frustrating for all.
Glad to hear you got lots of quilting squeezed into your vacation. When the academic year starts I seem to only have time for piecing. In June I had 14 quilts to sandwich and quilt. Still working on them.
Just wanted to let you know that I lived in Durham, NC for 6 years as a child (ages 9-15) and have wonderful memories. Our house was nestled in a pine forest with lots of birds. Great place to raise a family (at least that's my memory).
Hope to hear about your students and school. Take care and happy quilting.
Thank you for the birthday greeting. My birthday was filled with things I love and I spent it with a dear friend. I have had a busy couple months and have not been on site, so just got the greeting today. I am waiting for a friend from California to come over for lunch. Thank you again
Hi Jeannie - the quilt you saw is called "Quilters Puzzle", it is a "equiltpattern" by Liz Schwartz - web is www.equiltpatterns.com. It was a lot of fun to do - I hope you can find the pattern. I did mine in all batiks and black but really bright colors would have been fun too. Good Luck and happy quilting - Kate O
Life has been busy, just haven't had much time to blog. We had two great vacations, Sedona and then Williamsburg. And I have been preparing for surgery which will happen on July 6th. I decided after much thought to have a gastric bypass done. I have tried everything to lose the extra weight and nothing has worked. I have type2 diabetes and hopefully it will improve after the surgery. I have tons of quilting projects to chose from but am now working on a quilt for my 2 year old granddaughter, Cavanaugh. She just graduated to a big girl bed and of course grandma volunteered to make a special quilt just for her. So that is what I have been up to. Hope your bronchitis is doing better. And we did love your part of the country, Virginia is a beautiful state.
