Suzanne, I'm going to visiting in the Seattle area in late September with my daughter and of course we are going to stop at a few quilt shops. Can you tell me which ones are your favorites? I've got the list from the June shop hop, and have them all located on the map, but with limited time, we'd really like to hit the creme d' la creme!

Thanks,

Kit

Hi Suzanne!  We haven't heard from you on the handquilting group for awhile, and I just wanted to check in and make sure everything was okay.  Hope you had a good school year and will have some crafting/quilting time over the summer break (if you get one).

Your mini-retreat sounds like fun.  I would only be able to come on Friday. Would that be okay?  I would enjoy meeting you and your friends.  If you could give me more info on the location and time I will try to make it.

Hi Suzanne, looks like we live in the same town.  I am a northwest transplant.  We moved here from Michigan in 2005. Looking forward to taking my mother-in-law and her friend to the Sister's Quilt Show in July.  I am currently working on the Amish with a Twist 2 Quilt by Nancy Rink. It is the most labor intensive quilt I have ever done.  I love the NIckel Quilt designs and made a Lover's Knot quilt for a wedding gift to my son and daughter-in-love.

I know what you mean about the school year, Suzanne! I'm looking forward to summer and having some time to do some machine piecing. There's just never enough time during the school months. Glad to know you're still lurking around :)

Bonnie Hunter's website is quiltville.com.  Look under 'Tips & Techniques', either at the top of the page or on the right-hand side of the page under the list of free patterns.  It's the 'hexagon tutorial' that I think you will find interesting.

Hey, Suzanne.  Go look on Terri Hair's blog on this site where she writes about a Monkey Wrench quilt that she did with 3 other people.  Maybe we could do something like this with you, me, Mom and Anna instead of our usual sisters challenge.  I even like the block they used, Monkey Wrench.

Hey, I've now added 3 pictures to my page.  Go check them out!

It's a group on QWU, but there is a link to a website where you actually download the pattern.  The first one (January) is available now.  I think it disappears after a month, so you need to download before then.

Hey, Suzanne, I just joined the Country Junktion Block of the Month 2012 because the January block (snowman) looks really cute.  I don't think I'll try to keep up month to month but I will get the patterns.

We went via I-90. On the way home was our stop in Ritzville and then in Ephrata at the Fabric Patch and dinner in Ellensburg. A fun, but long day.

LOL - the Smilebox is on the main page. If you can't find it let me know and I can email it to you.

How's progress on your clamshell quilt?

Yay for you!  I finished mine in eight months.  But that is all I did!  It was all needle turn, before I learned about the back basting.  Which I really like.  I have another one started.  Maybe I will pull it out.  LOL

Suzanne,

To label a quilt for the T-shirt album, just tag it "tshirt" (you don't need the quotation marks) and I will find it.

Haven't taken a picture of the quilt yet.  The elastic was my husband's idea and I just made it work.  He's always worried about the hang over on the tablecloth getting pulled out when he stands up - sending plates etc onto the floor. We are going out for a weekend ATV trip tomorrow, my daughter will watch my mother while I'm gone.  First weekend I've had "off" for a year.  It will be a nice break.

Because mine turned out circular, I had to cut it so I had a straight edge.  I used bias tape because I then inserted elastic so it would fit snug on the table.  Makes it easier for husband and mother.  If I did a large one, I'd like to leave all the pieces intact and after hand quilting the body, turn under the top and back pieces and hand sew.

I chuckled with the "social community" comment.  It is new on the site, I had an email from CT saying they had updated the main page.  Hate to scare you, but I also do some hand piecing - I did a grandmothers flower garden and made it into a circular table cloth for our nook table.  I also like English paper piecing.  I also hate to throw away fabric.  I save all those corners that are clipped off and make mini quilts with them.  I send my bigger projects to a friend that does LA stitching, am working on finishing some of the smaller ones on my machine, but when all else fails I hand quilt it.  It took me all winter to hand quilt the circular table cloth but I thought it would be dumb to machine stitch all my hand pieced work.  LOL I confess I did do a happy dance when I finished it.
