Thank you! Apologies for not acknowledging your nice remarks sooner, but I was getting over an operation when I started here and my mind has been on other things! Just got my quilting things out yesterday (24th June) for the first time for months, so looking forward to starting again.
Thank you Carol! And thanks for thinking my baby is cute.. She is a spoiled dog.. LOL.. she's the last of my babies still at home.. My two legged babies have flown the coop.. But I speak too fast.. My daughter is returning home after a couple of years clear across the country in Oregon. I will be flying out to Portland and driving back with her to Virginia.. It's going to be a LONG drive home. Hopefully I will be able to stop at a few fabric stores.. :)
Thanks, Carol! What a nice way to start off in a group with a friendly welcome! The black lump in the corner is also a dog. :) I am looking forward to joining some groups here. I'm particularly interested in groups of people who want to challenge/improve their design skills and/or machine quilting skills. It's harder to develop your skills when you're more advanced. There are so many more opportunities for beginning quilters. At least in my experience.
Thank you so much Carol, I have been so busy since I retired I have not been on the site to chat at all, or to see what is there but I plan to take a day to look around. I enjoy doing Christmas quilts and snowmen things. Thanks again
Hi Carol, Thanks for the very friendly welcoming message. I don't have a clue what to do with this yet. But maybe I will figure it out eventually.
I haven't quilted as much as I would like. Three years ago I decided to give it a try, having always thought it looked like a lot more than I could handle. I'm a procrastinator to say the least. I started with a baby quilt for a coming grandbaby (who will now be 3 in June). She is both a delight and a big part of my life since she is with me 5 to 6 days a week while her parents are at work. She's the precious reason I put my hobbies on hold. But even hobbies "go stale" if you don't keep them active. So I decided this might give me the challenge I need to get started again. It will definitely be slow going since my time is spent with my little one. She's a handful for me (I'm 65) but so very worth every moment.
Thanks for the complement on the quilt in the photo. It was my 3rd project and was a lot easier than I had anticipated. It is king size (a gift for my daughter) displayed on a double bed.
I hope to get my project underway soon and check back here again when I can.
Hi Carol, thanks for the warm welcome. Even though I've been quilting for 15 yrs, I too like simple. If I try to get too fancy then I make mistakes. If I keep it simple, it turns out much better.
I am about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh and 80 miles south of Erie going in a straight line. I. Look forward to this new group to see if we come up with some new ideas.
I really enjoy this site, so many nice and helpful people.
I started to quilt a little in 2004 when we lived in Dubai but had a long break after that. Took it up again a few years ago but mostly small projects. Now I have realized that I think that quilting is more fun than garment making so I seem to spend all my free time with my little patches :0)
Thanks for the welcome, Carol. I haven't been as active as I'd hoped. Added another part-time job to the mix, and still haven't found my balance yet. I hope for some time exploring the site this weekend as it looks like the weather may have us staying home.
I have been quilting a lot since my position (job) was dissolved at 16.5 years. I miss the money for my habit, but I love having time to quilt and be with others more. I have been making a lot of tops (twin size) for the mission of the homeless in downtown Dallas. I know they will need them soon. The quilt ministry at my church is tying them. Also making some for myself. Saturday purchase a new Pfaff Passport machine to be my back up machine. I have a 7570 older machine and love, love it. The IDT foot (built in walking foot) is so wonderful. What are you sewing on? I know that you are busy. There is so many quilts to make and so little time and money.
I don't know why you have three messages from me. The previous post was about my son's video for school that he recorded on my iPhone that we couldn't get to download onto our desktop or a cd. I still haven't figured out how to upload pics from my iPad.
